Aguascalientes Achieves Strongest Start to the Year in Foreign Investment in Nine Years
Aguascalientes registered $342.1 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first quarter of 2026, a figure representing 211.4 percent growth compared to the same period in 2025.
According to data from the federal Secretariat of Economy, this marks the best first-quarter result in the last nine years.
The Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology (Sedecyt), Esaú Garza de Vega, detailed that Japan was the leading investing country, contributing $144 million, followed by Germany with $96.3 million, and the United States with $66.6 million.
Additionally, during this period, capital from Argentina, Brazil, Korea, Spain, and China also arrived.
Regarding economic sectors, the
concentrated the majority of the investment, receiving $271.8 million, which represents a 127 percent increase compared to the first three months of 2025.
According to state authorities, factors such as security, infrastructure, and connectivity have contributed to the influx of new investments into the state.
Garza de Vega noted that the results are due to coordinated efforts across various state government departments.
“Growth exceeding 200 percent in foreign investment attraction in a single quarter is a clear signal that we are on the right path,” stated the official.
