E-commerce Captures 10.1% of Sales Value Following Hot Sale
Hot Sale 2026 boosted e-commerce sales in Mexico, with categories like beauty, personal care, and electronics seeing significant growth.
E-commerce Captures 10.1% of Sales Value Following Hot Sale
The 2026 Hot Sale not only strengthened e-commerce sales in Mexico but also served as a preparation period for summer vacations. According to an analysis by NielsenIQ (NIQ), combined sales of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Technology & Durable Goods recorded a 13% growth during the campaign.
The FMCG segment led the advance in the digital channel, with an annual increase of 23.1% in sales value and 9.3% in units. With this performance, e-commerce represented 10.1% of the total market sales value, considering both physical and digital channels together.
Health and Beauty Doubles Sales
The Health and Beauty category was one of the primary beneficiaries during Hot Sale. Its sales doubled the average observed during the rest of the year and grew 17% compared to the 2025 edition. Among the products with the highest dynamism, fragrances stood out, with sales increasing 256% in value and 246% in units. Body creams also gained relevance and positioned themselves as one of the main growth drivers for the category.
For NIQ, this behavior reflects that Mexican consumers took advantage of June promotions to acquire personal care and summer vacation-related items in advance.
“Hot Sale 2026 was not just a discount window but the trigger for an extended consumption cycle. The data shows us that the Mexican consumer made a ‘smart purchase’ in June to get ahead of the July vacations,” explained Laura Calderón, Retail Vertical Customer Success Leader for NielsenIQ Mexico. The specialist added that the purchase of personal care and technology products during the campaign paved the way for higher spending on experiences and seasonal items.
Televisions and Portable Speakers Gain Ground
The Technology & Durable Goods sector registered a 10% growth in value and 11% in units during Hot Sale 2026. Consumers concentrated part of their purchases on home goods and portable entertainment devices.
Televisions reported the largest absolute increase, with an additional 64,000 units. The category grew 24% in value and 27% in volume compared to the previous year. Portable speakers, on the other hand, became one of the most notable products of the campaign, recording a 103% increase in sales value. According to NIQ, this behavior could be related to consumers’ intention to bring entertainment options to their vacation destinations.
In contrast, tablets presented the largest decline within the technology sector, with a 21% drop in value.
Hydration and Sun Protection Drive Summer Consumption
Historical results from summer promotions also show increased demand for products linked to high temperatures, hydration, and personal protection. During the 2025 summer campaigns, insecticides—a category that includes mosquito repellents—achieved increases of up to 81% in the wholesale channel, 55% in e-commerce, and 54% in convenience stores, compared to weeks without promotions.
In the digital channel, suntan lotions registered 20% growth, while body creams advanced 18%. Convenience stores, chain pharmacies, and discount establishments concentrated some of the largest increases in non-alcoholic beverages. Serums and isotonic drinks increased 9% each, while sales of ice cream and popsicles grew 11%.
This behavior shows a transition between purchases planned during Hot Sale and immediate consumption associated with summer weather conditions.
“The growth momentum we saw in June will now carry over to products of immediate need due to the weather,” noted Calderón. The specialist indicated that understanding this “domino effect” can help retailers and manufacturers adjust inventory, promotions, and distribution strategies. After acquiring durable goods during Hot Sale, consumers tend to focus their budget on hydration, sun protection, personal care, and seasonal foods.
