Nuevo León's IMMEX Establishments and Employment in 2026
Nuevo León leads Mexico in IMMEX program growth, attracting new facilities and creating significant export-oriented jobs.
How Many IMMEX Establishments Does Nuevo León Have?
Nuevo León reinforced its position within the export manufacturing sector during the first five months of 2026. The state led in the creation of establishments and maintained the highest level of IMMEX employment nationwide. This performance confirms Nuevo León’s significance within industrial supply chains geared towards international markets. Furthermore, it demonstrates the state’s capacity to attract manufacturing operations and expand existing ones.
Between January and May 2026, Nuevo León added five new IMMEX establishments. With this figure, the state ranked first nationally. During the same period, Mexico registered only 10 new units under the program. Therefore, half of these were established in Nuevo León. The state closed May with 740 IMMEX establishments. This productive infrastructure includes manufacturing plants and companies linked to export services.
The Maquiladora and Export Services Industry Program facilitates operations related to the production of goods destined for international markets. Thus, the growth of new establishments expands industrial capacity and strengthens the connection between local suppliers, large corporations, and global supply chains.
How Many Workers Do IMMEX Companies Employ?
Nuevo León also registered the highest number of workers within the program. As of the end of May, IMMEX companies employed 400,998 individuals. Additionally, between January and May, the state created 6,461 direct jobs linked to these operations.
Nationally, the program generated 13,001 jobs during the same period. Consequently, Nuevo León accounted for practically one out of every two new jobs. The combination of new establishments and hiring indicates that expansion occurred not only in infrastructure but also in the labor demand from exporting companies. This employment spans various areas, from production and logistics to engineering, administration, maintenance, and supply chain management.
Which Industries Sustain Export Leadership?
The program’s advancement strengthens sectors with a broad presence in the state’s economy. These include advanced manufacturing, the automotive industry, steel, and home appliances. The ecosystem also encompasses logistics operations and high value-added technologies. These activities require specialized suppliers, technical personnel, and infrastructure to move raw materials and finished products.

Furthermore, Rocha Nieto added that the state offers conditions to invest, expand operations, and create quality jobs.
