German Investments in San Luis Potosí Exceed $3.5 Billion USD
San Luis Potosí solidifies its strategic position for European investment, with German capital totaling over $3.5 billion USD.
San Luis Potosí is reinforcing its position as a strategic destination for European investments, following a meeting between state authorities and representatives from the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany. The cooperation aims to consolidate economic, commercial, and cultural collaboration, generating new opportunities for strategic sectors and strengthening the local economy. The meeting was led by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco), Mario García Valdez, and included participation from the honorary consul of Germany, Thomas Wagner, as well as representatives from German companies operating in the state.
German Investments in San Luis Potosí Reach $3.5 Billion USD
During the meeting, authorities recalled that Germany remains the primary European partner for investments in San Luis Potosí and the second largest globally, with an accumulated Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of $3,576.8 million USD between 2006 and 2025. They expressed that the German presence reflects the confidence of international companies in the state’s economic stability and competitiveness, consolidating San Luis Potosí as an attractive hub for foreign investment.
Where are German Investments Concentrated in San Luis Potosí?
Furthermore, they highlighted that 47 companies with German capital currently operate in San Luis Potosí, with a presence in sectors such as:
- Manufacturing
- Commerce and services
- Energy transmission
The highest concentration is recorded in the state capital and Villa de Reyes, generating specialized jobs and professional development opportunities for the local population. Additionally, during 2024, exports from San Luis Potosí to Germany reached $498 million USD, of which 91.6% corresponded to the automotive and engine industry, strengthening trade relations and evidencing the economic impact of foreign investment in the state.
San Luis Potosí-Germany Alliance and its Real Impact
Therefore, strengthening cooperation with Germany allows San Luis Potosí to increase its competitiveness against other investment destinations. Similarly, it promotes the diversification of strategic economic sectors, generating high value-added jobs, especially in manufacturing and automotive. This production chain also drives the entity’s exports to Europe, consolidating its international presence. Finally, authorities agreed that this type of collaboration promotes solid and sustained economic growth through the attraction of international capital and the creation of opportunities for the population.
