Top Workplaces in Mexico's Construction Sector for 2026: GPTW Rankings
Great Place To Work® identifies leading construction companies in Mexico for 2026, highlighting factors contributing to positive workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
The Construction and Infrastructure sector in Mexico is undergoing a transformation, marked by increased investment, the boost from nearshoring, and the execution of new industrial, energy, and mobility projects. In this context, talent management has become a strategic factor for organizations seeking to maintain their competitiveness in a market with high demand for technical and operational profiles. Against this backdrop, Great Place To Work® (GPTW) has released the list of “Top Workplaces in Construction and Infrastructure in Mexico 2026.” This evaluation recognizes organizations that have successfully built work environments based on trust, effective leadership, and employee development.
The 2026 edition distinguishes 15 organizations in the sector. Their results were derived from the participation of 3,685 employees who shared their perceptions regarding workplace culture, working conditions, and the relationship between teams and management.
This recognition comes at a crucial time for the industry. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Construction and Infrastructure sector, which encompasses economic activities classified under SCIAN codes 23 and 48, represented approximately 8.5% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025 and generated over 3.8 million direct jobs, equivalent to about 7.8% of the country’s employed population. Furthermore, between 2021 and 2025, the industry recorded an average annual growth exceeding 6.2%, driven by the expansion of industrial parks, public infrastructure projects, logistics corridors, and investments linked to business relocation, or nearshoring.
How is the “Top Workplaces in Construction and Infrastructure 2026” ranking conducted?
The methodology of Great Place To Work® is primarily based on measuring employee experience through the Trust Index®, a tool that analyzes perceptions of trust within organizations using 60 statements related to five core dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
The study directly considers employee opinions to evaluate factors such as internal communication, leadership capabilities, equity in growth opportunities, workplace safety, performance recognition, and a sense of belonging.
In addition to the Trust Index®, GPTW analyzes organizational culture and the consistency of internal practices that foster work environments where individuals can achieve professional development. For the Construction and Infrastructure sector, this evaluation holds particular significance due to the industry’s unique challenges: field operations, geographical mobility, pressure to meet project deadlines, and the need to enhance workplace safety.
The results indicate that the recognized companies offer significant advantages over the rest of the sector. For instance, 85% of employees in these organizations believe that people quickly adapt to the changes necessary to achieve objectives, a difference of 12 percentage points compared to other evaluated companies. Similarly, 89% of workers state they wish to remain with their organization for a long time, versus 78% in the rest of the sector, while 90% would recommend their company as an excellent place to work, surpassing the average of other organizations by 11 percentage points.
These indicators demonstrate that building strong workplace cultures not only impacts employee satisfaction but also enhances companies’ ability to attract specialized talent, reduce turnover, and improve project execution.
One of the primary differentiators is the perception of physical safety. 94% of employees consider their workplace to be safe, five percentage points higher than other evaluated organizations, a critical aspect in an industry where risk prevention and regulatory compliance are paramount.
Another relevant factor is institutional pride. 95% of employees report feeling proud of the achievements accomplished as a team, while 94% state they are proud to say they work for their organization.
These findings show that companies with superior workplace cultures are not only competing for projects or investments but also for the position of attractive employers in a market where retaining talent represents a strategic advantage.
However, the study also identifies areas for improvement within the sector, including perceptions regarding promotion processes, compensation, and recognition for effort. Although the distinguished organizations show better results than the average, some indicators still require strengthening.
For example, 72% of employees believe that promotions are awarded to those who most deserve them, while 73% perceive that leaders avoid favoritism. In terms of compensation, 76% believe they receive fair pay for their work, and 77% indicate that managers recognize extra effort.
The ranking of “Top Workplaces in Construction and Infrastructure in Mexico 2026” demonstrates that talent has ceased to be merely an operational resource and has become one of the primary drivers of business growth and differentiation.
