Nuevo León Construction Sector Sees 3.5% Employment Growth
Nuevo León's construction sector experienced a 3.5% annual increase in occupied personnel in August 2026, indicating sector strength.
Nuevo León Sees 3.5% Employment Growth in Construction
The construction industry in Nuevo León stood out with annual growth in its occupied personnel during August 2026. According to data from the National Survey of Construction Companies ENEC from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the indicator advanced 3.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
This result positions employment as one of the key strengths of Nuevo León’s construction sector. In addition to the annual variation, the occupied personnel index reached 126.7 points, based on 2018 equaling 100. This means the indicator is 26.7% above its reference level.
The figure offers a favorable signal regarding companies’ capacity to sustain their workforces, although it does not, by itself, determine the number of jobs created or if the growth was evenly distributed across different construction activities.
Nuevo León’s Activity Indicators Exceed 2018 Base
The ENEC data also show levels exceeding the base year in other components of construction activity in Nuevo León.
Hours worked registered an index of 135.3 points, while the value of production stood at 126.4 points. Both indicators surpass the 100-point reference established for 2018.
These figures allow us to gauge the activity level of construction companies against the base year, but they should not be automatically interpreted as annual increases during August 2026. To determine if hours worked and the value of production grew or decreased compared to August 2025, their respective annual variations are needed.
This distinction is relevant for evaluating the sector’s performance: an index above 100 indicates the indicator is above its reference level, while the annual rate shows how it changed compared to the same period of the previous year.
Employment: A Key Indicator for the Sector
The 3.5% annual advance in occupied personnel is the most significant data point for Nuevo León’s construction sector during the period. In an industry linked to infrastructure development, real estate projects, and industrial activity, employment evolution provides insight into companies’ operational capacity.
However, single-month indicators are insufficient to confirm a sustained trend or to anticipate the behavior of subsequent periods. Monitoring production, hours worked, and remuneration will be necessary to ascertain if labor advancements are accompanied by broader activity expansion.
With the available data, Nuevo León presents a favorable balance in terms of construction employment and activity levels above those of 2018. The next step to gauge the sector’s recent evolution will be to compare these results with the annual variations of its other indicators.
