OXXO Integrates More Stores into Jalisco Security Initiative
OXXO integrates 1,570 Jalisco stores into a 'Safe Points' network, providing refuge for women at risk and enhancing emergency response with direct tech links to authorities.
Convenience store chain OXXO has taken a strategic step in Jalisco. The company integrated 1,570 branches in the state into a “Safe Points” network. This initiative aims to offer safe spaces for women at risk in Guadalajara and surrounding municipalities. This business collaboration focuses on citizen security. It involves a direct technological connection between the stores and state authorities. Thus, OXXO’s vast network becomes a first point of contact for emergency response.
OXXO’s Network: A Technological Safe Haven
The agreement transforms OXXO’s infrastructure in Jalisco. The 1,570 participating stores will operate as temporary safe spaces. Each location will be identified with the “Safe Point” distinctive mark.
The security mechanism is technology-based. When a woman requests assistance, store personnel will activate a panic button. This device is directly connected to C5 Escudo Jalisco.
This connection enables a coordinated and immediate response from emergency services. The strategy is part of the initiative
The objective is to reduce reaction times in situations of danger for women.
The Key Role of OXXO Employees
The success of the initiative depends on staff training. OXXO employees are the key component for activating the protocol. They will receive requests for assistance and notify C5.
The company highlighted the commitment of its teams. Óscar Bahena Galindo, OXXO Operations Manager for the Jalisco Region, emphasized the importance of the human factor. The executive acknowledged the dedication of employees in this endeavor.
According to Bahena Galindo, this action aligns daily operations with corporate values: “I want to acknowledge all OXXO employees who have made this program possible. Without their dedication, effort, and professionalism, none of this would be possible. Thank you for embodying our values every day in each of our stores, turning them into safe and trustworthy spaces for everyone.”
A Growing Security Strategy in Mexico
The integration of OXXO stores into security networks is not exclusive to Jalisco. The company has implemented similar programs in various states across the country. This suggests a national strategy to position itself as a “good neighbor.”
According to FEMSA information, similar efforts exist in other states. However, the implementation in Jalisco stands out due to its magnitude.
Some examples of this strategy in other regions include: -San Luis Potosí: Operates “Code Pink” in over 500 stores. -Aguascalientes: Features
in approximately 340 branches. -Puebla: Implemented “Safe Point” in over 300 stores in the capital. -Yucatán: Maintains “Safe Spaces” with 174 active points. -Coahuila: Has 100 “Violet Points” in operation.
