Solfium to Invest $10 Million in Querétaro to Boost Solar Energy

Solfium invests $10M in Querétaro solar plant, creating 750 jobs. Will reduce 3.5M tons CO₂ and generate $1.6B savings with scalable clean energy solutions for SMEs.

Solfium, a leading company in solar energy solutions for industrial value chains, announced a $10 million investment to install a new plant in Querétaro. The project, with Canadian-Querétaro capital, will generate 150 direct and 600 indirect jobs, strengthening the state’s consolidation as a strategic hub for energy innovation in Mexico.

The company, specialized in developing digital platforms for decarbonization, is advancing its commitment to the transition towards clean energies by integrating Querétaro into its global expansion model.

Solfium has operated in Mexico since 2021 and has developed a client portfolio that includes multinational companies such as Coca-Cola, Michelin, Santander, Scotiabank, and Mabe. Through its technological platform, the firm integrates installers, suppliers, financiers, and logistics operators to provide customized and scalable energy solutions.

Ongoing projects will enable the reduction of over 3.5 million tons of CO₂ through the installation of solar panels in companies and businesses. Simultaneously, this strategy is projected to generate savings exceeding $1.6 billion for its clients in the long term, by incorporating efficient solar-based electricity generation technologies.

During the official announcement, Governor Mauricio Kuri underlined the value of this type of investment for regional development. He noted that Solfium promotes the use of renewable energies through technological solutions that align with the state’s vision of sustainability.

“Solfium announced today a $10 million investment for its solar energy plant, which, in addition to creating jobs for the people of Querétaro, contributes to environmental protection and the greater competitiveness of our business ecosystem. Here, we are distinct and distinguishable, also in caring for our planet!”, the governor wrote on his social media.

One of Solfium’s strategic objectives is to support small and medium-sized enterprises by providing access to affordable technologies. Using its digital platform, Solfium helps over 2,500 SMEs gain access to solar systems that reduce their operational costs and advance their sustainability goals.

The company’s CEO, Andrés Friedman, emphasized that the expansion in Querétaro sets a precedent for the firm three years after establishing an alliance with the state government. He affirmed that Solfium seeks to act as a catalyst for other local entrepreneurs to scale their businesses in the technological and energy sectors with support from investment funds.

«Our technological platform integrates installers, suppliers, financiers, and logistical partners to provide a tailor-made solution for each client. It is this technological development that has allowed us to attract investment funds and implement these technologies here in Querétaro (…) Similarly, at Solfium, we want to be that catalyst and make our contribution so that other entrepreneurs, many of whom are accompanying us today, also experience significant growth, and with the help of investment funds, can continue investing in technology in this State,» he noted.

Solfium’s arrival in the state strengthens the local government’s strategy to reduce its environmental footprint through technological investment, utilization of solar resources, and creation of green jobs.

This investment adds to the impetus of more initiatives linked to sustainable development and the modernization of industrial processes within the framework of Agenda 2030.
