Tec de Monterrey Campus SLP: Cultivating Strategists for the Creative Economy
Communication has evolved beyond mere campaigns and social media. Today, it defines a company’s reputation, shapes how brands connect with their audiences, and influences how a city showcases its talent. With this vision, Tec de Monterrey Campus San Luis Potosí will launch its Bachelor’s degree in Digital Communication and Production starting August 2026.
According to Karla Enriqueta López Martínez, Regional Dean of the School of Humanities and Education for the Northwest Region, the program arrives in a city experiencing industrial growth and possessing the potential to become a creative hub. The Bachelor of Communication program has a legacy of over 40 years at Tec and, at the SLP campus, will be part of an existing offering across various campuses.
The inaugural class is expected to comprise around 20 students, with an estimated limit of 25. López Martínez explained that the intention is to provide personalized attention, immediate access to laboratories, and a formative experience integrated with real-world projects from the initial semesters.
The degree program aims not only to train content creators but also to prepare strategists capable of integrating narrative, technology, artificial intelligence, digital production, and critical thinking.
For San Luis Potosí, the areas of specialization will include social media digital strategy, content creation, strategic corporate communication, and advertising. Additionally, there will be audiovisual components, such as film and production.
Artificial intelligence will be incorporated into the curriculum not as a replacement for professional judgment. López Martínez highlighted that the key differentiator will be the development of creativity, ethics, critical thinking, and human insight to determine what tools to use and how to apply them.
To support the new
The model will also connect students with leaders from creative industries. The institution has previously hosted professionals from ESPN, Shark Tank Mexico-Latin America, Netflix, and Tiffany & Co. Mexico-Latin America.
Furthermore, students will gain access to over 500 universities worldwide, offering opportunities for exchanges, international internships, and dual degree options.
