Aeroméxico Under Investigation for Potential Data Breach: What Information Is at Risk?

The Secretariat of Anticorruption and Good Governance is investigating a potential data leak related to Aeroméxico. The agency detected a post on Telegram offering a database attributed to the airline’s customers.

The message appeared on September 18, 2026. According to Good Governance, the database reportedly contains over 15 million records and is 1.10 GB in size. The information allegedly includes full name, email address, phone number, mobile number, date of birth, and registration date.

During its monitoring, the Secretariat obtained a sample of 100,092 records. Within this sample, they found the same fields and names of various individuals. Public officials and public figures appear among the records.

Following the discovery, the agency announced that it will analyze the collected information. It will also initiate an investigation ex officio to determine potential responsibilities regarding the compromised databases.

Aeroméxico confirmed that it is aware of the publications regarding the alleged database. The company has launched its own investigation to verify the authenticity of the information.

The airline is also working to determine the origin of the data and the extent of any potential impact.

As of now, Aeroméxico assures that it has not detected any exposure of financial information, card details, or customer passwords. This review also includes Aeroméxico Rewards accounts. The company added that the incident has not affected its operations. Furthermore, it stated that it will cooperate with authorities during the investigation.

As inquiries proceed, Aeroméxico has advised its customers to remain vigilant for potential fraud attempts. The company urged customers to be wary of unusual emails, messages, or calls requesting personal or financial information.

The potential data breach remains under investigation. For now, Good Governance has confirmed the existence of the publication and a sample containing over 100,000 records. Authorities still need to determine if the database indeed belongs to Aeroméxico customers. The origin of the information and the scope of the potential incident also remain to be ascertained.
