Aguascalientes Industry Performance as of July 2025: INEGI Report Unveils Key Insights
INEGI's report for July 2025 shows Aguascalientes' industrial sector growing 0.9% monthly and 3.9% annually, driven by construction and manufacturing, outperforming some regional peers.
INEGI released the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) for July 2025, showing Aguascalientes registered a 0.9% growth month-over-month, using seasonally adjusted figures. Annually, the state’s industrial activity increased by 3.9% compared to the same month in 2024, consolidating positive performance amidst a national environment of contrasts. According to the report, Aguascalientes’ annual growth was primarily driven by construction, with a 9.7% rise, and by
, which increased by 3.4%. Both sectors solidified their positions as the main pillars of the state’s productive activity. In contrast, the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, water, and gas decreased by 1.6%, while mining receded by 0.5%, although its weight in the state’s economic structure is minimal. Overall, the data reflects a stable Aguascalientes industry, maintaining moderate growth thanks to manufacturing diversification and a rebound in construction.
Bajío Industrial Region Shows Mixed Performance in July
Within the north-central industrial corridor, Aguascalientes positioned itself in the positive performance range, surpassing entities such as Querétaro (-3.0% monthly and -4.1% annually) and Nuevo León (-6.3% monthly and -6.0% annually). Conversely, Zacatecas (+2.3% monthly and +8.4% annually) and San Luis Potosí (-0.8% monthly and +4.8% annually) demonstrated stronger results, driven by mining and manufacturing. Jalisco and Guanajuato also concluded with annual growths of 3.7%, albeit with slight monthly setbacks (-0.6% and -0.1%, respectively). In this context, Aguascalientes’ performance places it above the regional average, solidifying its role as a relevant industrial player within the Bajío region, maintaining a stable and sustained pace.
State Disparity Reveals Uneven Industrial Landscape
Nationally, INEGI recorded disparate behaviors in July. The largest monthly expansions were observed in Oaxaca (+7.1%), Nayarit (+4.3%), and Guerrero (+4.1%), while the most pronounced declines occurred in Quintana Roo (-8.5%), Sinaloa (-7.3%), and Nuevo León (-6.3%). These contrasts highlight a scenario of partial adjustment and deceleration in the national industry, where only some entities manage to maintain momentum, primarily those linked to energy and infrastructure projects. The overall balance confirms that Aguascalientes maintains sustained, albeit moderate, industrial growth, supported by the strength of its manufacturing base and the recovery of the construction sector. Looking ahead to the coming months, the challenge will be to maintain the expansion rate given uncertainty in the automotive sector and adjustments in external demand. The next IMAIEF report, scheduled for December 2025, will allow for an evaluation of whether the upward trend consolidates or if the local industry faces a turning point.
