All Confirmed Strategic Investments and Projects in Nuevo León: January 2026

Nuevo León's strategic January 2026 investments span mobility, urban infrastructure, security, industrial growth, and automotive manufacturing, strengthening competitiveness for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.

January 2026 marked a strategic start for Nuevo León. The state focused announcements on mobility, urban infrastructure, security,

industrial, and automotive manufacturing. These projects aim to strengthen competitiveness leading up to the

and within a global context of economic reconfiguration. Below is a sector-by-sector overview of the main actions announced during the first month of the year.

Mobility and Urban Infrastructure

Public Transportation Modernization: New Buses and Route Restructuring

The State Government commenced the year by integrating 35 new units into Route 223 (Teófilo Salinas–Eloy Cavazos and Teófilo Salinas–Ginecología branches), benefiting over 200,000 people, primarily in Juárez.

Additionally:

  • The arrival of 750 new units between January and May 2026 was announced.
  • The administration highlighted that 4,000 new buses have already been incorporated, a historic figure in four decades.
  • Staggered schedules, carpool schemes, and route redesigns are being implemented to reduce waiting times.

In parallel, Route 98 Héroes de Capellanía–Palacio de Hierro received 45 new buses manufactured in Nuevo León, which will reduce waiting times by up to 40% and strengthen local industry. These new units include digital payment, GPS, internet, and a panic button.

Metro Expansion

Furthermore, Metro Lines 4 and 6 show nearly 90% progress at key stations such as La Fe, Y Griega, and Torre Administrativa.

Key points:

  • The network will expand from 40 to 80 kilometers, doubling its capacity.
  • The new lines are estimated to transport 230,000 daily passengers.
  • The Y Griega station will house the central control post and the Feeder Electrical Substation.
  • Integration tests are projected to begin in the short term.

The expansion includes a connection to the Mariano Escobedo International Airport and the Monterrey–Laredo train, strengthening logistical and metropolitan connectivity.

Water Park

The Water Park is progressing as one of the state’s most ambitious urban projects:

  • Investment: 2,092 million pesos
  • Area: 78 hectares
  • Physical progress: 61%

In turn, the project will include a cultural forum for 4,500 people, eight artificial wetland lakes, a skatepark, a fitness trail, and sports areas, in addition to La Serpiente, a 530-meter service corridor.

A direct connection to Estadio Monterrey is also being built, leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
