Amlo Offers Condolences to Iran for Death of President

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador offered his condolences to the people of Iran after the death of its President Ebrahim Raisi and its Minister of Foreign Affairs in a helicopter crash. The Mexican president expressed his deepest condolences for the tragic accident.

MEXICO CITY 20-May-2024 .-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador offered his condolences to the people of Iran after the death of its President Ebrahim Raisi and its Minister of Foreign Affairs in a helicopter crash.

“To offer the Iranian people our condolences for the death in an accident, so far this is the information we have, of the President and the Foreign Minister of that Nation. Our deepest condolences for the death of the President, the Foreign Minister and other members of the Government of Iran,” said López Obrador in a morning press conference.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister died when their helicopter crashed while crossing mountainous terrain amid dense fog, an Iranian official told Reuters.

Raisi was returning from an event in Azerbaijan, in which he once again supported Hamas against Israel, when the aircraft in which he was traveling crashed in a mountainous area of the country.

In Addition to Offering Condolences, Amlo Congratulates Dominican Republic and Panama1757

This morning, at the National Palace, the Federal President sent a greeting and congratulations to Luis Abinader for winning the elections in the Dominican Republic.

“Regarding the international situation, I take this opportunity to send a greeting, a congratulation, to the President of the Dominican Republic who was re-elected by the will of his people, Luis Abinader obtained the triumph in yesterday’s elections by a wide margin,” he mentioned.

López Obrador also celebrated the victory at the polls two weeks ago of José Raúl Mulino in Panama.

“Also two weeks ago we missed congratulating the president of the Republic of Panama, we will do it formally,” he added.
