Most In-Demand Medical Specialties in Querétaro

The in Querétaro accounted for 99,078 outpatient consultations in 2025 at private establishments with hospitalization services. Among the individually identified categories, gynecology and obstetrics registered the highest number of treatments, according to proprietary calculations based on the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) 2025 Health Statistics in Private Establishments (ESEP) database. This information provides insight into the services most requested by users of private hospitals. However, the data does not represent job vacancies or medical personnel hiring needs.

Querétaro Surpassed 99,000 Specialty Consultations

In 2025, private healthcare establishments in Querétaro reported 254,089 outpatient consultations. General medicine accounted for 108,266 treatments, equivalent to 42.6% of the total. Specialty consultations ranked second with 99,078 services and a 39% share. Additionally, 42,892 emergency consultations, 2,952 dental consultations, and 901 preventive medicine consultations were recorded.

Nationally, specialty consultations represented 48.5% of outpatient treatments in private hospitals, while general medicine accounted for 34.7%, according to the ESEP 2025 Results Report.

Gynecology and Obstetrics Led Identified Specialties in Querétaro

The ESEP organizes specialized consultations into five groups. One group combines various disciplines under the category of “other specialties,” preventing a detailed breakdown of its composition. This group accounted for 37,812 consultations, or 38.2% of specialty treatments.

Among the specialties presented individually by INEGI, the distribution was as follows:

Thus, gynecology and obstetrics was the specific specialty with the most consultations in Querétaro’s private hospitals. This was followed by treatments related to surgery, pediatrics, and internal medicine. Furthermore, 58,439 specialized consultations were first-time visits, while 40,639 were subsequent consultations. Therefore, approximately six out of every ten treatments represented a first contact within the reported period.

Specialty Consultations Remained Stable

Compared to 2024, specialty consultations increased by 866 attendances, rising from 98,212 to 99,078. This represented a year-over-year growth of 0.9%. In contrast, the total number of outpatient consultations decreased by 3.4%, falling from 262,975 in 2024 to 254,089 in 2025. Consequently, while total ambulatory care declined, specialized services remained practically stable. The comparison was made using data from the ESEP 2024 and ESEP 2025 databases.

How Many Medical Specialists Did Private Hospitals Report?

The 55 private establishments included in the Querétaro dataset reported having 2,191 medical professionals in direct contact with patients. Of this total, 1,897 were classified as specialists, equivalent to 86.6%.

The distribution of reported specialized personnel was as follows:

• 783 professionals in other specialties.
• 308 surgeons.
• 228 specialists in gynecology and obstetrics.
• 227 pediatricians.
• 226 anesthesiologists.
• 125 specialists in internal medicine.

Additionally, the establishments accounted for 427 consulting rooms. Of these, 291 were designated for specialty consultations and 136 for general medicine. They also reported 890 censable beds.

Nationally, private establishments recorded 106,032 medical professionals in direct patient contact. Of these, 84.7% were specialists, according to the official ESEP 2025 release.

What Does INEGI’s ESEP Measure?

The Health Statistics in Private Establishments is an official source that gathers information on services, treated illnesses, personnel, and infrastructure of private health establishments. Its unit of observation includes private hospitals, sanatoriums, clinics, and maternity wards that have censable beds and offer hospitalization services. For this reason, the results do not include public hospitals, independent medical offices, or private clinics without hospitalization services.
