Guanajuato is solidifying its position as a leading investment destination in the Bajío region, having achieved 37% of its six-year capital attraction target in just one year. With $2.983 billion invested across 35 projects, the state leads regional economic development and strengthens its standing as Mexico’s fifth strongest economy.

During the first year of the government led by Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, 8,434 direct jobs were committed. The state government’s strategy focuses on leveraging the state’s competitive advantages, such as its strategic location, productive infrastructure, and skilled human talent.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villaseñor, emphasized that the confidence of national and international investors remains strong due to the legal certainty and clear direction offered by Guanajuato.

Projects are distributed in municipalities both within and outside the industrial corridor: León, Irapuato, Celaya, Silao, San Miguel de Allende, San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, Abasolo, Romita, Apaseo el Grande, and Villagrán.

Countries that have invested in Guanajuato include: Germany, Canada, China, Spain, the United States, Italy, Japan, and Mexico, confirming the state’s geographic diversification and global appeal.

One of the central objectives is to integrate local SMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises) into the value chains of large corporations. This integration strengthens the productive and social fabric and accelerates economic dynamism across the entire region.

The strategy aims to generate balanced prosperity, bringing development to areas with greater need and promoting corporate social responsibility.

Currently, the Ministry of Economy is managing 25 additional projects with a potential investment of $1.5 billion, which could generate 5,000 new jobs.

With a clear economic policy, Guanajuato projects itself as a competitive, investment-friendly state committed to sustainable development. In this regard, the public sector is working to consolidate a model that generates employment, prosperity, and peace, leveraging local talent and the strategic connectivity of the Bajío region.
