Guanajuato Authorities Confirm State Roads Are Clear and Incident-Free
Guanajuato authorities report state roads are clear and incident-free following recent security operations, with 35 arrests and ongoing vigilance.
Guanajuato updated its security status following events recorded on Sunday, February 22, stemming from federal operations in the neighboring state of Jalisco. The Secretariat of Security and Peace reported on the morning of Monday, February 23, that all state roads are clear and incident-free, with no active disruptions in the municipalities.
Official Report: 74 Criminal Incidents and 35 Individuals Detained
According to the most recent report, as a result of the joint deployment between state forces, the Mexican Army, National Guard, and municipal corporations, the figures have been updated to 35 individuals detained and 74 criminal incidents recorded across various municipalities.
The detained individuals were placed at the disposal of local and federal Public Prosecutor’s Offices, ensuring the continuity of the corresponding legal process.
Previously, Governor
reported that as of 3:00 PM on Sunday, 55 incidents had been accounted for in 23 municipalities, all controlled and with no fatalities reported, confirming a clean slate for the entity.
Isolated Incidents in Guanajuato During the Early Morning
During the early morning hours of Monday, three additional incidents were reported. These include the burning of a convenience store in León and the torching of two vehicles in Celaya. No injuries were reported in any of these cases.
Guanajuato’s security authorities indicated that they are already investigating whether these events are linked to reactions to the federal operations conducted in Jalisco.
Inter-institutional Coordination and Permanent Vigilance in Guanajuato
It was detailed that the security operation remains active with preventative patrols and coordinated presence of state and federal forces throughout Guanajuato territory. This strategy aims to deter new incidents and maintain stability in urban areas, on highways, and at strategic points.
Furthermore, the Secretariat of Security reiterated its call to citizens to report any suspicious activity anonymously to the number 089 and to stay informed exclusively through official channels.
Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo emphasized that the situation is under control and that coordination between levels of government enabled an immediate response.
