Guanajuato Leads Energy Transition with 428 MW of Clean Energy
Guanajuato consolidates its national leadership by operating 10 renewable energy plants with 428 MW capacity, strengthening energy security and industrial competitiveness.
Guanajuato is at the forefront of generating
and consolidates its national leadership by operating 10 renewable generation plants with an installed capacity of 428 megawatts, based on photovoltaic, wind, bioenergy, and efficient cogeneration technologies. This advancement strengthens energy security, boosts industrial competitiveness, and positions the state as a benchmark in sustainable development. This energy ecosystem supports an economic strategy that links productive growth with environmental responsibility, within a global energy transition context.
Ten Clean Energy Plants Drive Regional Development
The clean energy plants are located in Apaseo el Grande, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, San Luis de la Paz, San Felipe, and León, allowing for a strategic distribution of energy infrastructure. This regional coverage reduces logistics costs and improves access to sustainable energy for the industry. Furthermore, technological diversification strengthens the resilience of the state’s electrical system and reduces dependence on conventional sources.
Annual Reduction of 880 Thousand Tons of CO₂
The operation of these plants enables the reduction of up to 880 thousand tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. This environmental impact improves air quality and directly contributes to public health for the population. Likewise, these actions reinforce the right to a healthy environment and mitigate the effects of climate change in one of the country’s most dynamic industrial regions.
Public Policy for Responsible Growth
Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo highlighted that this achievement is a result of a public policy aimed at responsible economic growth. The strategy prioritizes energy security and the efficient use of natural resources. These actions reflect the state government’s commitment to future generations and to a balanced development model.
Clean Energy as a Pillar of Competitiveness
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, explained that the state’s economic policy integrates sustainability as a pillar of competitiveness. The promotion of clean energy generates highly specialized jobs and reduces operational costs for the industry. Furthermore, this approach attracts quality investment, diversifies supply sources, and strengthens the regional economy.
Sustainability and Growth Advance Together
The promotion of renewable energy in Guanajuato demonstrates that environmental protection and economic growth can advance hand in hand. This model generates tangible benefits in quality of life, regional development, and investment attraction. Thus, the state consolidates a more prosperous, resilient, and sustainable future for its population and its productive sector.
