Highway Blockades Prompt Partial Closures and Ongoing Monitoring in Guanajuato
Guanajuato faces road blockades, prompting state authorities to implement continuous monitoring and report partial highway closures to ensure safety and transit.
The nationwide road blockades called for November 24 activated a special operation in Guanajuato. Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo reported that no closures had been recorded in the state since the morning. However, she noted that disruptions requiring continuous monitoring might occur throughout the day to ensure public safety and free transit. The governor urged citizens to stay informed through the official accounts of the State Civil Protection and the Secretariat of Security and Peace. Both agencies disseminate real-time updates on highway status.

and State Deployment on Highways The Secretariat of Security and Peace activated a permanent operation starting Sunday, November 23. The agency reported maintaining continuous surveillance on strategic routes and preventive deployments by the State Highway Police. According to the agency, the objective is to prevent incidents and provide support to those traveling on federal and state highways. As of 7:30 AM this Monday, the secretariat reported normal traffic on all state highways. However, it warned that blockades were anticipated at specific points throughout the day.
Confirmed Morning Closures in Various Guanajuato Municipalities
State authorities confirmed that the initial closures occurred in San Luis de la Paz. At 10:20 AM, a total closure of federal highway 57 was reported, at the junction with San Luis de la Paz and Dolores Hidalgo. The blockade affected both directions toward Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. Subsequently, closures were recorded in the industrial corridor region. In Pénjamo, a blockade was confirmed in both directions of federal highway 90, at the Laguna Larga de Cortés community. The Secretariat of Security and Peace also reported another closure on the Indeco neighborhood section in Santa Ana Pacueco.
Additional Disruptions in Irapuato and Partial Reopening of Routes
The morning progressed with new highway blockades in the state of Guanajuato. In Irapuato, a total blockade was registered in both directions of federal highway 45, on the Irapuato–Salamanca stretch, near Ciudad Industrial. Minutes later, authorities reported the partial reopening of traffic flow in the direction of Irapuato. However, the situation in Pénjamo persisted. Federal highway 90 Pénjamo–Santa Ana Pacueco remained blocked in both directions at the Laguna Larga de Cortés point. This closure continued during the agency’s latest information update.
Evolving Situation with All-Day Monitoring
State authorities maintain surveillance at affected points and continue to report any changes in traffic conditions. Although confirmed highway blockades were concentrated in San Luis de la Paz, Pénjamo, and Irapuato, the State Government remains alert for potential new disruptions.
