Aguascalientes Hospitals Integrate Robots to Streamline Medication Distribution
Public hospitals in Aguascalientes are enhancing patient care by implementing robotic systems for faster, safer, and more precise medication dispensing.
Public hospitals in Aguascalientes are utilizing robots to enhance medication distribution. This technology, according to the State Government, enables more agile, secure, and precise preparation and delivery of treatments to hospitalized patients.
Currently, these systems are operational at the General Tercer Milenio Hospital, the Women’s Hospital, and the Centenario Hospital Miguel Hidalgo.
These facilities are using the robots to prepare and organize medications according to each patient’s medical prescription.
According to the state administration, the hospitals have three unidose dispensing robots installed in their hospital pharmacies. These systems identify, prepare, and organize medications automatically, ensuring that medical and nursing staff have the correct dosage available at the indicated time.
Additionally, the General Tercer Milenio Hospital and the Women’s Hospital feature automatic dispensers in their external pharmacies. In these instances, pharmacy personnel register the prescription via a barcode, and the system locates and dispenses the requested medication within seconds.
The State Government indicated that this technology contributes to reducing wait times, accelerating service in hospital pharmacies, and minimizing the risk of errors during medication delivery.
Each of these robots has the capacity to dispense up to 3,600 medications per hour, which optimizes internal processes and improves the care patients receive at medical units, according to official information.
