How Nuevo León Strengthens Its Security Strategy in 2026
Nuevo León boosts security with 323 new personnel for Fuerza Civil, enhancing readiness for the 2026 World Cup and economic development.
In a context where public security has become a key factor for regional competitiveness, the Government of Nuevo León incorporated 323 new personnel into its state corporation. This graduation strengthens Fuerza Civil’s operational capacity and aligns with the territorial protection strategy in preparation for international events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Security as a Strategic Governance Pillar
The ceremony was led by Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda and the Head of AMAR a Nuevo León, Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, who highlighted security as a structural priority for the state. With this addition, the corporation reaches a force strength of 6,404 personnel, representing a significant increase in operational response capacity.
“Today we reached 6,404 personnel, which means we have much more muscle in this great police force; when we say it’s the best police force in Mexico, it’s not its governor saying it… it’s the people to whom we owe our service,” stated García Sepúlveda. The message has not only an institutional dimension but also an economic one: the perception of security directly impacts investment attraction, business development, and citizen trust.
Investment in Security and Interinstitutional Coordination in Nuevo León
The strengthening of Fuerza Civil responds to a sustained public investment strategy in security, as well as coordination with federal entities such as the National Guard and the Mexican Army.
The governor emphasized that this collaboration has allowed for a reduction in criminal incidence and positioned the state favorably within security indicators. “We thank the Army, the National Guard… for all the support we receive from the Federal Government… which allows us to achieve the best year in this regard in the last 16,” he noted. This type of coordination is key in an environment where security is managed under multi-level schemes, integrating local and federal capabilities.
Police Training and Human Capital Professionalization
The graduation of the 323 cadets stems from initial training processes focused on discipline, leadership, and operational capabilities. During the event, recognitions were awarded for academic merit, service, leadership, and esprit de corps. From a public policy perspective, police professionalization is a central element for improving institutional effectiveness and strengthening citizen trust.
On behalf of the graduates, cadet Joan Oziel Martínez Mendoza highlighted the importance of joining a service-oriented corporation: “We appreciate the opportunity to belong to this institution and to collaborate in the protection of the people of Nuevo León.”
Gender Perspective and Institutional Strengthening
In her address, Mariana Rodríguez emphasized the role of women within the corporation, underscoring their impact on institutional transformation. “I especially want to recognize the women graduating today… their presence sends a very powerful message: that we are at the forefront, caring for Nuevo León with strength, preparation, and love for our state,” she stated. The incorporation of more women into security forces responds to global trends that seek to strengthen diversity, improve citizen services, and build more representative institutions.
Security and Global Events: Opportunity and Operational Pressure
The proximity of the 2026 FIFA World Cup adds both pressure and opportunity to the state’s security strategy. Nuevo León is positioned as a key hub for receiving visitors, which elevates the required security standards. *“Nuevo León is a safe state, it is fortified… to those who come to the *
we will provide peace and tranquility,” assured the governor. These types of events demand not only operational capacity but also logistical coordination, intelligence, and risk management.
Security as a Regional Competitive Advantage
The strengthening of Fuerza Civil reflects a vision where security is conceived as a strategic asset for economic development. States with better indicators in this area tend to attract greater investment, tourism, and talent. The challenge for Nuevo León will be to sustain these investment levels, consolidate results in crime reduction, and translate the perception of security into tangible advantages for its economic ecosystem.
