Top 5 Afores in Jalisco for 2026: Which is Best for Your Retirement?
Discover the top-performing Afores in Jalisco for 2026, analyzing net returns, fees, and services to help you choose the best retirement savings plan.
Choosing a suitable Afore is a financial decision that warrants more than a quick review of fees for those working in Jalisco. In 2026, Administradoras de Fondos para el Retiro (Afores) continue to be a primary vehicle for building pension savings for working individuals in Mexico. Their performance is measured, among other factors, by the Net Return Indicator (IRN), a benchmark that allows for the comparison of resource performance after accounting for fees.
Although Afores operate nationwide and there is no exclusive performance for Jalisco, their results apply equally to workers in Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque, Puerto Vallarta, and the rest of the state’s municipalities. Based on data provided by the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System
, particularly for workers aged 30 to 45, Profuturo, SURA, Inbursa, XXI-Banorte, and Invercap stand out among the alternatives with the highest net returns in the reviewed generational groups.
What are the Top 5 Afores for Workers in Jalisco?
The first key to understanding which Afore might be more convenient is identifying the SIEFORE (Fondo de Retiro) each worker is enrolled in. These societies manage and invest the resources in individual accounts and group individuals according to their birth year.
In this regard, for Jaliscan workers approximately between the ages of 30 and 45, these are the five names that frequently appear among the top performers in terms of returns:
- Profuturo: Ranks first in all four generational groups analyzed. Its Net Return Indicator was 9.26% for individuals born between 1980 and 1984; 9.41% for those born between 1985 and 1989; and 9.40% for the generation born between 1990 and 1994. For those born from 1995 onwards, it registered 9.44%.
- SURA: Maintains a competitive position and is among the top three Afores in all four groups. Its net returns were 8.72%, 8.77%, and 8.82% for the generations of 1980-1984, 1985-1989, and 1990-1994, respectively. For the generation born from 1995 onwards, it achieved 8.85%.
- Inbursa: Also remains within the top positions for the three older generational groups within the analyzed segment. It registered 8.67% for those born between 1980 and 1984, 8.70% for 1985-1989, and 8.80% for 1990-1994.
- XXI-Banorte: Stands out particularly among younger workers. For individuals born between 1980 and 1984, it reported 8.55%; in the 1985-1989 group, 8.67%; and among those born from 1990 to 1994, 8.73%. For the generation born from 1995 onwards, it climbed to second place with 8.92%.
- Invercap: Completes this group of competitive options. In the generations of 1980-1984, 1985-1989, and 1990-1994, it achieved 8.17%, 8.19%, and 8.41%, respectively.
These figures correspond to the April 2026 data cutoff published by CONSAR on May 15th. The authority itself maintains updated indicators, and as these are variables that can change, it is advisable to review current information before making a transfer.
Why Does Birth Year Matter When Choosing an Afore?
Not all individuals have their savings invested under the same criteria. The investment strategy changes depending on the generation to which each worker belongs. The reason is that a 30-year-old person has a much longer investment horizon than someone nearing retirement. Therefore, SIEFORES distribute resources considering the stage of a worker’s career.
In the case of Jalisco, this means that a professional from Guadalajara born in 1992 will not necessarily have the same investment composition as someone born in 1981, even if both work for companies in the same sector. CONSAR continues to publish information on the various SIEFORES. For example, as of July 2026, it keeps generations 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and the Initial SIEFORE, among others, separated.
Return, Fees, and Service: The True Afore Comparison
Finding an Afore with the highest return does not automatically mean it is the best alternative for everyone. The Net Return Indicator is relevant because it allows us to observe the historical performance of administrators after deducting fees. However, before switching Afores, it is also necessary to review other elements.
One of these is precisely the fee. In 2026, nine Afores charge an annual fee of 0.54% on the managed balance, while PensionISSSTE maintains a fee of 0.52%. This places the system’s average at 0.538%. The reduction was authorized by CONSAR in November 2025 and represented a decrease from the 0.55% in effect during 2025.
Therefore, Profuturo, SURA, Inbursa, XXI-Banorte, and Invercap have a 0.54% fee in 2026. PensionISSSTE, although not among the top five Afores with the highest returns in the analyzed generational groups, may be attractive to certain workers due to its lower fee.
This demonstrates why it’s not enough to look for “the Afore that pays the most.” Retirement savings is a long-term strategy, and small differences can accumulate significant effects over the years. Services are also important.
Customer service, digital tools, ease of checking balances, voluntary contributions, procedures related to unemployment or marriage, and retirement advisory services are all part of the experience a worker will have throughout their working life.
In this area, CONSAR currently uses the Afore Monitor, a tool that compares administrators using 31 operational and service indicators. In the edition referenced in the provided information, Inbursa obtained 85.7 points, Coppel 84.6, and PensionISSSTE 82.5.
What Should a Worker Review Before Switching?
Before making a decision, a worker in Jalisco can follow a straightforward path:
- Identify their current Afore: Not all workers know where their resources are, especially those automatically assigned to an administrator.
- Locate their SIEFORE: Birth year determines the generational group and, consequently, the indicators to be compared.
- Review the Net Return Indicator: This is one of the main benchmarks for understanding historical performance after fees.
- Compare fees: In 2026, most administrators charge 0.54%, while PensionISSSTE charges 0.52%.
- Analyze services: A good app, efficient service, and ease of processing transactions can become practical advantages over the years.
- Consider voluntary contributions: Mandatory savings can be supplemented with additional contributions to strengthen the amount available at retirement.
- Do not decide solely based on short-term returns: Retirement is a financial goal spanning several decades, so it is advisable to observe historical behavior and not just an isolated data point.
