Made in San Luis Potosí: Initiative Advances to Boost Local Consumption and Productivity
San Luis Potosí's Congress approves 'Made in San Luis Potosí' seal to promote local products, strengthen supply chains, and boost competitiveness across 169,278 establishments.
The Congress of the State of San Luis Potosí, in committees, approved the “Hecho en San Luis Potosí” initiative, also known as “Made in San Luis Potosí”. The proposal, spearheaded by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona and Representative Luis Emilio Rosas Montiel, President of the Economic and Social Development Commission, seeks to consolidate a public policy that promotes the consumption of products manufactured within Potosino territory, as well as their positioning in national and international markets.
The distinguishing mark will enable the visibility of the added value of local products, not by competing with commercial brands or generating exclusive use, but rather as an institutional seal of identity and economic promotion.
According to Luis Emilio Rosas Montiel, this regulatory adjustment will strengthen production chains and business competitiveness, while simultaneously solidifying consumer confidence in the quality of Potosino products. The objective is for this certification to guarantee that articles comply with official quality standards and generate benefits for both producers and consumers.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI),
The implementation of the Hecho en San Luis Potosí distinctive mark will strengthen business networks, production chains, and commercialization schemes included in the General Program for Sustainable Economic Development and Competitiveness.
The decree aims for Potosino companies to access greater national and international benefits, with the support of the State’s Secretariat of Economic Development. The intention is to foster the consumption of local products, generate more jobs, and ensure that every item bearing the seal is synonymous with quality, identity, and trust.
The reform also establishes in its article 58 that SEDECO (Secretariat of Economic Development) must promote the participation of Potosino products in fairs, exhibitions, market activities, and specialized events with the intention of strengthening their presence both domestically and internationally.
