New Swedish Plant Boosts Nuevo León's Industry: What Impact Does Munters' Expansion Have?
Munters' new plant in Nuevo León enhances industrial specialization, creates jobs, and boosts regional economic growth with a significant investment and focus on advanced climate control.
The Swedish company Munters inaugurated its second plant in Nuevo León, as part of its productive growth strategy in Mexico and North America.
Why Munters’ Expansion Strengthens Nuevo León’s Industry
This new plant reinforces Nuevo León’s position as an industrial hub specializing in advanced technologies. Munters, a global leader in energy-efficient climate control solutions, once again chose the state for its infrastructure and human capital.
The company has an international presence and a history dating back to 1955, with its global headquarters in Kista, Sweden. Its focus is on optimizing air quality, reducing energy consumption, and improving operational sustainability.
In turn, the project contributes to strengthening the specialized labor market in Apodaca and its metropolitan area. The new jobs require technical and engineering profiles, adding value to the region.
What Was the Investment Amount?
Over the past 16 months, Munters’ expansion in Mexico represented an investment of 190 million pesos, according to company information. This amount corresponds to a first stage, with a second phase still in progress.
Thanks to this expansion, operations in Nuevo León generated 100 new direct jobs, linked to specialized industrial processes. Additionally, the company reported significant sales growth.
Sales increased from 37 million dollars to 68 million dollars, reflecting an increase of close to 84%. This performance consolidates the firm’s economic impact in the state.
What Will the New Plant in Apodaca Produce?
The new facility will focus on the production of evaporative cooling pads and humidification systems, key technologies for various productive sectors. These solutions cater to industrial and residential applications.
Furthermore, key markets include data centers, turbines, condensers, and industrial processes requiring precise thermal control. Demand for these systems is growing alongside digitalization and energy expansion.
Additionally, the plant will operate under international energy efficiency standards, aligned with advanced dehumidification technologies. This approach reinforces the competitiveness of Munters’ portfolio.
What Do State Authorities Think About the Arrival of This Plant?
During the inauguration,
—Nuevo León’s Secretary of Economy— emphasized the investment’s significance. The official highlighted the confidence of global companies in the local industrial ecosystem. “Munters’ expansion in Nuevo León reflects the confidence of a Swedish company with a global presence in the state’s talent, infrastructure, and industrial environment,” stated Rocha.
Also, attendees at the event included authorities from the municipality of Apodaca, Munters executives from the United States and Europe, as well as representatives from the state’s Secretary of Economy.
Finally, the new plant consolidates the state as a key point for
advanced manufacturing, energy efficiency, and sustainable industrial development in Mexico.
