Querétaro Enhances Electrical Infrastructure for O'Data Data Center
Querétaro strengthens its electrical grid with a new 400,000-volt line to support O'Data's significant data center expansion and the state's tech growth.
Querétaro Enhances Electrical Infrastructure for O’Data Data Center
The state of Querétaro is bolstering its electrical infrastructure with the energization of a 400,000-volt dedicated line connecting the Querétaro Potencia Electrical Substation to Industrial Park IX. This project is designed to supply power to O’Data’s
and to accommodate the state’s industrial and technological growth. The operational launch took place on July 4th as part of the Federal Electricity Commission’s (CFE) electrical infrastructure planning and enhancement initiatives. This new line increases available capacity to support high-performance operations in one of the country’s most economically dynamic regions.
According to CFE data, the transmission network will supply a contracted load of 150,000 watts, marking a significant step in providing greater certainty for the electrical supply required by technology, industrial, and digital economy-associated service projects.
CFE Strengthens Supply for High-Performance Operations
The new electrical line aims to ensure greater service continuity for facilities with high energy demands. Data centers, in particular, require robust infrastructure, operational stability, and sufficient capacity to maintain critical loads permanently. Therefore, the energization of this line is considered a strategic advancement to support the growth of sectors linked to the cloud, artificial intelligence, data storage, and digital services. Furthermore, this type of infrastructure can attract new productive investments to the state.
O’Data Drives One of Mexico’s Largest Data Center Campuses in Querétaro
The energy project is linked to the development by O’Data, an Aligned Data Centers company specializing in the construction and operation of data centers in Latin America. In April 2025, the company announced the launch of its first facility at the DC QR03 campus, located in Querétaro’s PyME Industrial Park. This complex was presented as the company’s largest data center development in Mexico, with a total investment exceeding $3 billion USD.
Upon full construction, the campus will provide up to 300 MW of IT capacity. This scale positions the project as one of the most relevant technological undertakings for Querétaro and the Mexican data center market.
Campus to Feature Five Buildings and 275,000 Square Meters
O’Data’s development includes five buildings spread across nearly 275,000 square meters. In its initial phase, the complex features one building with 72 MW of IT power, designed to meet the demand from cloud and artificial intelligence providers. Consequently, the electrical infrastructure advancements in Querétaro are directly tied to the state’s competitiveness in attracting hyperscale projects and its capacity to solidify its position as a technological hub within the country.
Previous 200 MW Energization Marked the First Phase
Prior to the operational launch of this new line, O’Data reported that in February 2025, it successfully energized 200 MW for the first phase of the campus development. This progress addressed one of the primary challenges for data center growth in Mexico: the availability of sufficient electrical infrastructure to meet technological demand. Additionally, the company is undertaking an ongoing expansion of 400 MW, aiming to alleviate energy supply pressures for these types of operations, particularly in Querétaro.
