Sidney Massunaga Appointed Mastercard Country Manager for Mexico
Mastercard announces the appointment of Sidney Massunaga as Country Manager for Mexico. In this role, he will lead the company’s business strategy in the country, strengthening its commercial capabilities and driving innovation within the payments ecosystem. His first official appearance in the position was on September 2nd during the “Mastercard Mexico Summit 2026,” which brought together clients and commercial partners of the leading global payments technology company.
Sidney brings over 20 years of experience in financial services and strategic consulting, with a career marked by business transformation, consumer banking leadership, and direct experience in the card business across various markets in Latin America and Asia.
Throughout his career, Sidney held leadership positions at HSBC in Brazil and Hong Kong in consumer banking and wealth management areas, overseeing card businesses, deposits, personal loans, mortgages, and loyalty programs. Previously, he spent a decade at McKinsey & Company, where he led transformation projects in different Latin American markets.
