Querétaro's Light Vehicle Financing Captures 80.3% of Retail Purchases
Querétaro leads national averages in light vehicle financing for retail sales, with multi-purpose vehicles dominating the market.

in Querétaro accounted for 80.3% of cumulative retail purchases between January and July 2026. This result placed the state five percentage points above the national average of 75.3%, according to a report compiled by the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA), JATO Dynamics, and Urban Science.
With this percentage, Querétaro ranked ninth among the 32 federal entities. Furthermore, it was part of the group of 28 states where financial placements represented 70% or more of retail purchases.
This indicator measures the proportion of placements made by commercial banks and brand finance companies relative to the number of light vehicle buyers. Therefore, it provides a reference for the significance of credit within automotive operations registered in each entity.
Multi-Purpose Vehicles Lead Financing in Querétaro
Multi-purpose vehicles led the composition of financing in Querétaro, contributing 35.1 percentage points to the state’s index. This category concentrated the majority of placements linked to retail purchases.
In second place were subcompact vehicles, with a participation of 18.5 percentage points. Compact vehicles followed with 12.8 points, and pickup trucks with 12.1 percentage points.
Luxury vehicles contributed 1.4 percentage points, while sports vehicles represented approximately 0.4 points. The sum of these segments constituted the state index of 80.3%.

Querétaro Surpasses Average in Retail Purchases
The report also analyzes the participation of financing in total purchases, a universe that includes operations beyond exclusively retail transactions. Under this indicator, Querétaro showed a participation of 50.4% between January and July 2026.
This figure was 11.7 percentage points below the national average of 62.1%. Additionally, there is a difference of 29.9 points between the state index for total purchases and the index for retail operations.
Credit Gains Traction in Multi-Purpose Vehicles
Nationally, 67.2% of multi-purpose vehicle buyers utilized some form of financing between January and July 2026. This represented an increase of 4.8 percentage points compared to the 62.4% reported in the same period of 2025.
Subcompact vehicles registered a national index of 63.9%, just 0.4 points higher than the previous year. In contrast, compact vehicles decreased from 62.7% to 60%, a reduction of 2.7 percentage points.
For pickup trucks, financing participation increased from 50.1% to 53%, while for sports vehicles, it rose from 49.8% to 50.6%. Luxury vehicles showed the most significant decline, decreasing from 48.3% to 42.7%.
Brand Finance Companies Dominate Placements
Manufacturer-linked finance companies maintained a predominant share in national automotive credit placements. Between January and July 2026, they concentrated 58% of financing for multi-purpose vehicles, 53% for subcompacts, and 59% for compacts.
Their presence was even greater in pickup trucks, where they represented 80% of placements, and in luxury vehicles, with 83%. In sports vehicles, they achieved a participation of 64%.
The remaining operations were distributed among banks and alliances established between manufacturers and banking institutions.
