Tecnológico de Monterrey has once again secured the #1 position among Mexican universities in the QS World University Rankings: Latin America and the Caribbean 2027. The institution led among 514
evaluated and maintained its fourth-place standing in Latin America.
What is Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Ranking in QS 2027?
Tecnológico de Monterrey has held the position of the top-ranked Mexican university in this regional ranking for eight consecutive years. Furthermore, the institution has maintained its #4 spot in Latin America for the sixth consecutive year. In the private university segment, Tec ranks second regionally.

Which Indicators Saw Improvement for Tecnológico de Monterrey?
Compared to the previous edition, Tec advanced in five key indicators. In Employer Reputation, it climbed one spot to reach #3 in Latin America. This indicator measures the recognition that companies and organizations give to the preparedness of graduates.
Additionally, in Academic Reputation, Tecnológico de Monterrey moved up one position to #9. The institution also improved in Citations per Paper, reaching #8 in the region. Furthermore, it advanced seven positions in Research Papers per Faculty, to #150. In the Doctorates per Faculty indicator, Tec rose two positions to #126.
Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Research Achieves International Presence
Tecnológico de Monterrey also maintained its #9 ranking in International Research Network. Currently, the institution participates in projects and networks with over 70 universities, as well as international organizations and specialists. As of July 2026, Tec reported over 1,400 researchers integrated into research groups or units. Of this total, 669 researchers belong to the National System of Researchers (SNII). Moreover, more than 400 professors participate in the researcher-professor model. The institution also reported over 2,900 scientific publications and 129,000 citations over the last five years.
Patents and Spin-offs as Part of the Innovation Ecosystem
Academic performance is also reflected in indicators related to innovation and intellectual property. Tecnológico de Monterrey has accumulated over 150 granted patents. It also registers over 680 intellectual property assets and has fostered the creation of over 30 spin-offs. These figures are part of a strategy aimed at connecting research, knowledge, and technological development with productive sectors. Tec also maintains collaboration networks with institutions like UNAM and universities participating in “La Tríada.”
Employability and Business Linkages
Furthermore, David Garza Salazar, Executive President of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Educational Group, highlighted the institution’s global reach. He noted that the university strives to strengthen talent attraction, impactful research, and knowledge generation.
Meanwhile, Juan Pablo Murra Lascurain, Rector of Tecnológico de Monterrey, emphasized the work of its professors, researchers, students, and alumni.
