Changes in Guanajuato’s Secretariat of Citizen Security
One of the confirmed adjustments is the departure of Samuel Ugalde García from the head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, a position he held for eight years. In his place, Mauricio Vázquez González, who served as Operational Undersecretary, has been appointed interim head of the department, tasked with ensuring the continuity of institutional work and implementing operational adjustments to meet the current needs of the municipality. During a message addressed to the corporation’s personnel, the municipal president
indicated that security-related decisions align with a logic of institutional strengthening. “Security is not static. Government decisions must evolve to meet current circumstances; it’s not about pointing fingers, it’s about strengthening,” the mayor stated to the team.
Reconfiguration in Key Administrative Areas
In addition to the change in Security, the Municipal Government confirmed other adjustments in strategic departments:
- Guadalupe Murguía concludes her tenure as Director of Public Works.
- Herón García departs from the Directorate of Maintenance.
- Denise Michellini was appointed head of the General Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, with both areas consolidated into a single department.
- Cristian Cantero officially assumes the role of Private Secretary to the Municipal President. These appointments came into effect on January 1, 2026, as part of the internal reorganization process of the municipal administration.
Institutional Focus and Administrative Continuity in Guanajuato
The local government emphasized that these changes are part of a structural review, aiming to improve operational efficiency, strengthen inter-institutional coordination, and address the challenges of the new year. Authorities reiterated that the adjustments were made in accordance with established administrative processes and with a focus on continuity in municipal programs and services. This entry
