What Does the Interserrana Highway Signify for the Development of Southern Nuevo León?

The Interserrana Highway project in Nuevo León receives federal approval, signaling a major boost for the economic development and connectivity of the state's southern region.

The Governor of Nuevo León, Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda, confirmed that the Federal Government granted the environmental permit and registration with the Ministry of Finance’s Investment Unit, the final requirements necessary to commence Section II of the Interserrana Highway, one of the state’s strategic connectivity projects. The governor thanked President Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as the Secretary of Environment, Alicia Bárcena, and Ileana Villalobos, for expediting the essential authorizations needed to proceed. “Interserrana takes flight. I want to thank the President for making this a presidential project, the Ministry of Finance for registering it, and especially SEMARNAT… With all these approvals, we are launching Interserrana”, stated García Sepúlveda upon leaving his meeting in the nation’s capital.

Nuevo León Publishes Tender and Anticipates Work to Begin in December

The governor reported that the tender for Section II has already been published in the Official State Gazette (available here), and work is scheduled to commence in December 2025.

A Strategic Highway for Mobility in Southern Nuevo León

The Interserrana Highway is a multi-year, 87-kilometer A4-type project designed to enhance between southern Nuevo León and the northern border, eliminating the need to traverse other states. The project will connect Highway MEX-057 (Matehuala–Puerto México) with Highway MEX-085 (Ciudad Victoria–Monterrey), passing through the municipalities of Galeana, Linares, and Montemorelos.
