What Impact Will Reflex Robotics Have on Nuevo León's Economy?
Reflex Robotics establishes its first Latin American humanoid robot manufacturing center in Nuevo León, creating 2,000 jobs and positioning the state as a key innovation hub.
Nuevo León is consolidating its position as a strategic hub for advanced manufacturing and technological innovation in Latin America, following the announcement of the arrival of Reflex Robotics. This company, specializing in the production of multipurpose humanoid robots, will establish its first manufacturing center in the region within the state, creating 2,000 new jobs, primarily for students and young talent.
Nuevo León, the First Latin American Humanoid Robot Hub
During a working tour in New York, Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda announced that Reflex Robotics, a company founded by graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), chose Nuevo León to establish its
, from where 100% locally manufactured humanoid robots will be produced.
“The State of Nuevo León will be the first to produce these humanoid robots. They will create over 2,000 jobs. This company is anticipating the future with multipurpose robots that can do everything, and that future will be manufactured in Nuevo León,” affirmed the state governor.
The company will be the first of its kind to set up in Latin America, focusing on the development of robots designed to automate multiple industrial processes within factories.
Industrial Automation and Control from Mexico
From the center to be installed in Nuevo León, the remote control and operation of humanoid robots will be managed, providing services in various industrial plants across the United States. This positions the state not only as a manufacturing location but also as a strategic international technological operation node.
According to Reflex Robotics, its robots are designed to execute repetitive, precision, and logistics tasks, which allows for reducing operational costs, improving productive efficiency, and boosting the competitiveness of manufacturing companies.
AI and Skilled Employment for Young People in Nuevo León
One of the main impacts of this investment will be the creation of 2,000 new jobs, with an emphasis on incorporating university students and recent graduates from Nuevo León and other entities across the country, particularly in areas such as:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering
- Software and Data Analysis
- Industrial Automation
According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), automation and robotics do not directly replace jobs when accompanied by training policies; instead, they transform labor profiles and increase the demand for skilled talent, especially in advanced industrial economies.
Global Context: Robotics as an Economic Driver
The arrival of Reflex Robotics occurs within a context of accelerated expansion in the global robotics market.
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the value of the global industrial robot market exceeds 50 billion dollars annually, with a sustained growth rate driven by the manufacturing, logistics, and services industries.
According to the World Economic Forum, advanced automation and artificial intelligence will be key to improving industrial productivity in an environment of technical talent scarcity and cost pressure, especially in regions highly integrated into global value chains, such as northern Mexico.
Nuevo León Reinforces its Profile as a Technology-Driven State
This investment adds to the state’s strategy to consolidate itself as a hub of innovation, advanced manufacturing, and applied technology, aligned with the nearshoring phenomenon and the relocation of production chains to North America.
According to official data from the Ministry of Economy, Nuevo León remains among the entities with the highest attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in high value-added sectors, such as electromobility, semiconductors, automation, and information technologies.
Economic and Productive Impact of the Investment in Nuevo León
The establishment of Reflex Robotics in Nuevo León will allow for:
- Reducing operational costs in manufacturing industries
- Increasing industrial productivity
- Strengthening technology transfer
- Generating skilled employment for young people
- Positioning Mexico in the global advanced robotics value chain
With this, the state advances towards an economic model based on innovation, knowledge, and added value, moving beyond traditional manufacturing.
