Aguascalientes Explores New African Markets Following Business Summit
Aguascalientes seeks to diversify its international trade by establishing business connections and export opportunities in African markets.
Aguascalientes aims to expand the commercial opportunities for its companies in Africa, a market that is beginning to become part of the state’s international diversification strategy. During the inauguration of the CLAF Summit Mexico–Africa 2026, state authorities and diplomatic representatives discussed the possibility of generating new connections for export, import, investment, and supply chain development between Mexican and African companies. The summit is driven by the Latin African Chamber of Commerce (CLAF) and aims to bring together companies from both regions through business meetings and direct networking schemes.
Aguascalientes Explores Commercial Opportunities with Africa
Esaú Garza de Vega, Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology, represented Aguascalientes. He highlighted that opening new commercial channels can allow local companies to reduce their dependence on traditional markets and expand their international presence. According to the official, fostering ties with African nations presents alternatives for companies based in Aguascalientes to find new destinations for their products and services.
Additionally, Ly Djerou Robert, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to Mexico, was present during the inauguration. This diplomatic participation is part of the summit’s objective to strengthen institutional and business connections between Mexico and various economies on the African continent.
What Opportunities Does CLAF Summit Mexico–Africa 2026 Aim to Generate?
One of the primary components of the CLAF Summit Mexico–Africa 2026 is its B2B business matchmaking sessions, designed to facilitate direct contacts between companies interested in developing new commercial relationships. According to information disseminated by the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science, and Technology of Aguascalientes (SEDEC), the summit seeks to identify opportunities in:
- Import and export
- Supplier development
- Investment attraction and generation
- Business collaborations
- New marketing channels
Thus, the forum intends to serve as an entry point for Mexican companies interested in understanding the demand, suppliers, and existing business possibilities within various African markets.
Market Diversification is the Objective for Aguascalientes Companies
Aguascalientes’ participation occurs in a context where the state is focused on strengthening the internationalization of its productive sector. Garza de Vega indicated that the state plans to leverage its industrial capacity, talent, and strategic position to generate new growth opportunities for local companies. In this regard, seeking business connections with Africa represents an alternative for Aguascalientes companies to diversify export destinations and develop new supply chain and investment relationships. The next step will be to convert the contacts generated during the CLAF Summit into concrete commercial projects between companies from both regions.
