PROFECO Operations: Conciliations, Consultations, and Consumer Behavior
During the special Buen Fin operation, the
(PROFECO) in Nuevo León recorded six conciliations between consumers and businesses. Five of these concluded with favorable outcomes for shoppers, while one—related to misleading advertising and a dishonored extended warranty—was escalated to a formal complaint procedure.
Reports included instances of original price misrepresentation, where buyers were able to demonstrate that the offered discount did not align with the product’s prior value. Following intervention, establishments corrected the amounts. Another case involved the full refund for a damaged cell phone, which had initially been denied.
In addition to conciliations, PROFECO provided approximately one thousand consultations at modules installed across various points in the state. These consultations covered inquiries regarding promotions, returns, warranties, and price verification.
Overall Assessment and Comparison with Prior Years in Nuevo León
Despite the increase in commercial activity, PROFECO reported a lower number of non-compliance issues compared to last year, when the operation concluded with 30 conciliations. The agency highlighted that this reduction may be attributed to enhanced preventive supervision, the presence of mobile modules, and more informed behavior from both consumers and businesses.
With the program still in its closing phase, it is anticipated that the final data will maintain this trend of stability, combining a moderate economic upturn with a decrease in formal disputes.
