Construction Value in San Luis Potosí Grows 40.2% in 2024: INEGI
San Luis Potosí's construction sector experienced significant growth of 40.2% in 2024, contrasting with a national decline, according to INEGI data.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published the results of the 2024 Annual Survey of Construction Companies (EAEC), an exercise designed to analyze the sector’s evolution in Mexico. Nationally, the industry recorded increases in labor and operational variables. Employed personnel advanced 2.1%, reaching 586 thousand individuals. Hours worked grew by 0.9%, while total remunerations increased by 14.3%.
Concurrently, the value of fixed assets rose by 4.4%, with machinery and equipment as central components. These represented 51.9% of the total, while real estate ranked as the second most significant component.
However, regarding the value of production in Mexico, INEGI registered contrasts. The national total decreased by 1%, settling at 698.5 million Mexican pesos (MXN). The states with the largest contributions were: -Mexico City: 231.6 million MXN -Chihuahua: 42 million MXN -Jalisco: 37.7 million MXN -Sonora: 25.8 million MXN Furthermore, by subsector, civil engineering declined by 7.6%, while specialized works and building construction increased by 6.7% and 5.2%, respectively. Civil engineering maintained the largest national share with 46.6%, followed by building construction with 42.1%, and specialized works with 11.3%.
San Luis Potosí Construction Value 2024: 40.2% Growth Contrasting with National Decline
In contrast to the national downturn, the value of construction in San Luis Potosí for 2024 demonstrated one of the highest increases nationwide. The state generated 11.9 million MXN, representing an annual growth of 40.2%, according to INEGI.
Additionally, the previous year also reflected dynamism, as the value advanced by 43.3%, from 5.9 million MXN to 8.5 million MXN. With these consecutive results, San Luis Potosí positioned itself as the sixth state with the highest annual growth, surpassed only by: -Quintana Roo: 121.3% -Morelos: 80.5% -Durango: 64.5% -Guerrero: 58.7% -Puebla: 49.5% In total revenues, San Luis Potosí construction companies achieved 15.09 million MXN, a 10.4% increase compared to 2023. Nationally, revenues totaled 807.5 million pesos, a decrease of 0.3%.
