Aguascalientes Industry Recovers 3.1% in April

The industrial activity in Aguascalientes showed signs of recovery in April 2026, registering a 3.1% growth compared to March, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federative Entity (IMAIEF), published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). However, the monthly increase was not sufficient to reverse the year-over-year trend. With seasonally adjusted figures, the state’s industry experienced a contraction of 2.7% compared to April 2025. This result places Aguascalientes in a scenario of monthly recovery, but with an industrial activity level still below that recorded a year ago.

How Much Did Aguascalientes’ Industry Grow in April 2026?

The monthly increase of 3.1% positioned Aguascalientes among the entities reporting growth in April. While it fell short of the increases seen in Oaxaca—which led the country with 11.8%—Mexico City with 9.4%, or Quintana Roo with 7.1%, the Aguascalientes result represents a positive variation compared to the immediately preceding month. The contrast appears in the annual comparison: while entities like Hidalgo, Nayarit, and Oaxaca registered double-digit expansions, Aguascalientes showed an annual decrease of 2.7% in seasonally adjusted figures. This behavior suggests that the local industrial sector gained short-term dynamism in April, although it still faces a negative annual base.

Aguascalientes Manufacturing Falls 2.5% Annually

The original INEGI figures allow for a more detailed observation of what occurred among the different components of Aguascalientes’ industrial activity. In this case, total industrial activity registered an annual variation of -2.1% in April. By sector, the results were:

• Mining: -9.4%
• Generation, Transmission, and Distribution of Electric Energy, Water, and Gas: -1.6%
• Construction: +1.3%
• Manufacturing Industries: -2.5%

Thus, construction was the only one of the four major industrial components in Aguascalientes that registered annual growth during the period. In contrast, the manufacturing sector—particularly relevant to the state’s productive structure—decreased by 2.5%, while the most pronounced fall was in mining, at 9.4%.

Construction, the Only Aguascalientes Industrial Sector with Growth

The 1.3% annual increase in construction represents one of the main positive data points in the report for Aguascalientes. However, its advance did not compensate for the decreases recorded in manufacturing, mining, and the segment related to energy, water, and gas, so the state’s industrial balance remained in negative territory with the original figures. Nationally, the scenario was different: industrial activity grew 2.4% annually, driven mainly by construction, which advanced 10.5%, and mining, with an increase of 3.5%. The comparison highlights a gap between Aguascalientes’ industrial performance and the national average during April.
