Five Tips to Sell more on Social Media

Discover insights about five tips sell more and their relevance in today's dynamic business environment.
By: Javier Díaz A few days ago, I read an article that said the average time a person spends on social media per day is two hours and 24 minutes. That gives us a total of approximately 11 hours per week, 44 hours per month and 528 hours per year, if we only talk about Monday to Friday (working days).
I mention this because if people dedicate about a quarter of a working day to seeing networks, it is imperative that you use it as a sales channel that can help you both to promote your business and to sell your products or services.
We must also highlight that it is not enough to simply have a social network —whether it’s Facebook, Instagram or TikTok—. This, because each of them has special characteristics and above all is aimed at different markets: millennials, baby boomers, Generation X, etc.
Today, it is not enough to have an Instagram, TikTok or Facebook account. If you don’t know how to communicate value, generate trust and provoke action, you are just entertaining… and not selling.
Therefore, I share five practical, actionable and results-focused tips to help you close more sales from your networks.
1. Know Your Client as You Know Your Best Friend1498
Before uploading any content, ask yourself:
- What worries them?
- What keeps them up at night?
- What do they want to achieve?
- What do they think is holding them back?
Social networks are not for talking about yourself, but for talking to your client about their problems, with the words they use.
Use surveys, question stickers and comments to nurture your content ideas. The responses from your audience are pure fuel for selling.
2. Make Your Content Sell without Looking Like You Are Selling on Networks2010
The trick? Educate, entertain or excite. The most effective posts tell a story, show a common mistake or share a real solution. Stop saying “buy me” and start showing “look what you can achieve with this.”
Formats that work:
- Reels with strong phrases.
- Carousels like “3 mistakes that make you lose clients”.
- Mini vlogs with real results.
Your content should say: “Here we sell, but we learn first.”.
3. Include Calls to Action That Invite Conversation on Networks2512
Don’t sell coldly. Networks are conversation, not a catalog. If people don’t associate value with what they see during the first 3 seconds, they WON’T see it.
End your posts with phrases like:
- Has something similar happened to you?
- Write me “I WANT TO SELL MORE” and I'll tell you how.
- What do you think about this?
The goal is to move the user to take a simple step that brings them closer to your sale: comment, send a message or save.
4. Use Social Proof to Your Advantage3041
One thing is to say that you are good. Publish testimonials, success stories, real stories, depending on the products or services you handle.
And if you’re just starting, show your own process: “this is what I apply, this worked for me.” Transparency also sells.
5. Consistency and Powerful Message on Networks Sales3356
Selling on networks is a consequence of appearing with value, every day.
Post at least three times a week and mix:
- Short videos on TikTok and Instagram.
- Reels on Facebook with stories that connect.
- Carousels on Instagram that educate.
- Stories with surveys and calls to action.
It’s not luck. It’s strategy. And you are one good social media campaign away from closing more sales than ever.
