Foreign Direct Investment Decelerates in Aguascalientes by End of 2025
Aguascalientes saw a deceleration in foreign direct investment during Q4 2025, driven by negative flows in new investments and inter-company accounts, contrasting with earlier positive results.
Aguascalientes recorded a deceleration in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows during the last quarter of 2025, according to figures from the Secretariat of Economy. Official data indicates that the state concluded the fourth quarter with a disinvestment amount of -334.1 million dollars, which contrasted with the positive results registered during the first three quarters of the year.
Investment Performance by Flow Type
The Secretariat of Economy breaks down FDI into three main components: new investments, reinvestment of earnings, and inter-company accounts.
For Aguascalientes, the performance in the fourth quarter of 2025 was as follows:
- New Investments: -81.6 million dollars
- Reinvestment of Earnings: 621.1 million dollars
- Inter-company Accounts: -873.6 million dollars
While the reinvestment of earnings recorded a positive flow, the other two categories presented negative balances that influenced the quarter’s final outcome.
Flows by Country of Origin
During the last quarter of the year, investment flows also showed variations based on the capital’s country of origin. The figures reported by the Secretariat of Economy indicate the following results:
- United States: 159.5 million dollars
- China: 12.9 million dollars
- Germany: -127.9 million dollars
- Japan: -48.4 million dollars
- France: -19.9 million dollars
- United Kingdom: -332.2 million dollars
The United States and China registered positive balances during the period, while Germany, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom reported negative flows.
Quarterly Evolution of Foreign Investment in 2025
Throughout the year, foreign direct investment in Aguascalientes showed mixed results across the different quarters. Official data indicates the following amounts:
- First Quarter: 109.9 million dollars
- Second Quarter: 394.6 million dollars
- Third Quarter: 200.3 million dollars
- Fourth Quarter: -334.1 million dollars
With these results, Aguascalientes closed 2025 with an accumulated total of 340.8 million dollars in foreign direct investment.
