Gregorio, an Aguascalientes-produced short film, has garnered national and international recognition at various film festivals, showcasing local talent.
Cinema produced in Aguascalientes has achieved national and international recognition thanks to the short film Gregorio, which has been acclaimed at festivals in Mexico and the United States. The work solidified the presence of Aguascalientes talent within specialized film exhibition circuits. The project was directed by Juan Pablo de Luna, a graduate in Cinematographic and Audiovisual Arts.
An Intimate Story with a Social Focus
Gregorio tells the story of a man who depends on the care of his sister, Rosa. Following an accident, his brother José assumes responsibility without fully understanding the protagonist’s needs. This lack of understanding drives Gregorio to seek refuge in the world of Mexican Golden Age cinema.
Within this symbolic space, the character finds emotional solace and new emotional possibilities. The narrative offers a perspective on vulnerability, dependency, and social abandonment. According to its director, the story aims to highlight realities faced by various minority groups.
Juan Pablo de Luna explained that the short film portrays current situations affecting vulnerable communities. The narrative approach prioritizes human experience without resorting to excessive dramatic artifices. The work champions a sensitive and restrained narrative, bolstered by ensemble acting.
