In July 2025, Jalisco’s industrial activity grew by 2.9% year-over-year, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) published by INEGI. This result positions the state among the most economically dynamic entities in the western region of the country, primarily driven by construction and mining, despite a national contraction of -2.7% during the same period. This positive performance reflects the resilience of Jalisco’s productive sector, which continues to attract investment in infrastructure and manufacturing, two pillars of its regional economic growth.
Jalisco Demonstrates Strong Performance in Mining and Construction
Based on original figures, the mining sector recorded an annual increase of 68.3%, one of the highest in the country, attributed to increased production of construction materials and the extraction of metallic and non-metallic resources.
The construction sector also sustained significant growth of 11.9% year-over-year, boosted by the development of industrial parks, housing, and strategic public works in metropolitan areas such as Guadalajara, Zapopan, and El Salto.
Conversely, the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, water, and gas experienced a decline of -4.6%, while manufacturing industries reported a slight increase of 0.3%, influenced by the stable performance of the technology and automotive sectors.
National Comparison: Jalisco Resists Decline in Mexican Industry
While the national average for industrial activity fell by -2.7% annually, Jalisco stood out alongside Tamaulipas, Michoacán, and Colima for recording positive advances. On a monthly basis (compared to June), the entity experienced a slight decrease of -0.6%, although it maintains a sustained growth trend throughout the year.
Productive diversification and the presence of global supply chains have been key to maintaining the state’s competitiveness amidst the volatility of other industrial sectors nationwide.
