Jalisco Surges in Exports by 130.8%, Securing Second Position Nationally in Mexico
Jalisco's exports skyrocket by 130.8% in Q2 2026, reaching $23.5 billion and making it Mexico's second-largest exporting state.
Jalisco Surges in Exports by 130.8%, Securing Second Position Nationally in Mexico
Jalisco concluded the second quarter of 2026 with $23.5851 billion in exports, a figure that positioned it second nationally, trailing only Chihuahua, and accounting for 12.1% of Mexico’s total exported value. This result is noteworthy not only for the amount but also for the growth rate: exports originating from Jalisco increased by 130.8% year-over-year, marking the highest growth among all 32 federal entities during the period.
According to the Quarterly Exports by Federal Entity (ETEF) report from INEGI, these figures illustrate the value of goods exported by the states and their short-term evolution. This performance places Jalisco in a unique position within Mexico’s export structure. While Chihuahua maintains a considerable lead in export value, Jalisco’s growth significantly outpaced that of other states with a strong industrial profile.
Electronics Drive Export Surge in Jalisco
The primary driver behind this performance was the electronic industry. During the quarter, Jalisco registered $19.6576 billion in exports corresponding to the subsector of manufacturing of computing equipment, communication, measurement, and other electronic equipment and components. This amount represented a year-over-year growth of 201.3%. Consequently, Jalisco contributed 27.9% of the national exports for this subsector, ranking second in the country, just behind Chihuahua. This data is particularly relevant for the state’s productive structure, as the manufacturing of electronic components accounts for a significant proportion of the value exported from Jalisco. In aggregate terms, the state’s manufacturing exports reached $23.1596 billion, a year-over-year increase of 136.2%. Thus, manufacturing represented 98.2% of Jalisco’s total exports during the second quarter.
Jalisco’s Dynamism Outpaces Other Industrial Hubs
The state’s performance gains greater significance when compared to other entities that concentrate a substantial portion of Mexican exports.
| State | Exports (Billion USD) | National Share | Annual Variation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chihuahua | 49,027.5 | 25.1% | 87.3% |
| Jalisco | 23,585.1 | 12.1% | 130.8% |
| Nuevo León | 18,533.5 | 9.5% | 25.5% |
| Coahuila | 17,967.5 | 9.2% | 6.0% |
| Baja California | 14,917.8 | 7.6% | 9.0% |
The data reveals a significant difference: Jalisco was the state with the highest year-over-year growth among the top five exporting entities and, according to the report, also recorded the largest increase among all 32 entities. The pace of expansion was more than five times higher than that observed in Nuevo León and substantially greater than that of Coahuila and Baja California. This outcome confirms the importance of high-technology manufacturing within Jalisco’s export profile.
Manufacturing Dominates; Agribusiness Maintains Presence
Jalisco registered $415.8 million in agricultural exports, a 1.6% year-over-year increase, representing 1.8% of the state’s total exports. Within the agricultural subsector, the state ranked fourth nationally, with a 9.4% share of Mexico’s total agricultural exports. The contrast between these two segments is considerable: while electronics manufacturing accounts for nearly all of the extraordinary growth in exported value, the agricultural sector maintains a smaller monetary share but retains a relevant position in national agricultural foreign trade.
Meanwhile, mining exports totaled $7.7 million, with a 76.0% year-over-year growth, although its contribution to the state’s total was marginal.
