Pilgrims Mexico Announces Multi-Million Dollar Investment for San Luis Potosí

Pilgrims Mexico unveils a significant investment plan for San Luis Potosí, aiming to boost food production, create jobs, and expand its operations in the country.

Food production in Mexico is set to receive a new investment from Pilgrims, one of the world’s largest poultry producers, which includes San Luis Potosí in its 2026-2030 expansion plans. In this regard, Pilgrims announced its investment initiative this Thursday at the National Palace, during the morning conference led by Claudia Sheinbaum. The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, and the company’s CEO, Fabio Sandri, participated. It is noteworthy that during the announcement, the president linked this capital injection to the country’s legal stability, emphasizing that Pilgrims’ growth in Mexico reflects positive results in the domestic market.

«There is certainty for investment, complete certainty. In Mexico, we want private investment. This commitment that [Pilgrim’s] is making is because they have done well, and because they know that investing in Mexico is secure and allows them to continue progressing,» she affirmed.

This is Pilgrims’ Multi-Million Dollar Investment for Mexico

According to the investment plan exclusively accessed by Líder Empresarial, Pilgrims will allocate USD 1.3 billion (Billion USD) to be distributed among three key hubs:

  • Veracruz, Campeche, and Yucatán: 950 million USD (MM USD).
  • Durango and Coahuila: 200 MM USD
  • Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Hidalgo: 150 MM USD

How Much Will Pilgrims Invest in San Luis Potosí?

Thus, according to the document Líder Empresarial had access to, Pilgrims will allocate an investment of 150 million USD for its plants located in San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, and Hidalgo.

Among the direct benefits of the investment, to be carried out between 2026 and 2030, are:

  • 4,000 direct and 16,000 indirect jobs.
  • 373,000 additional tons of production.
  • Integration into Plan Mexico and the Food Sustainability Plan.

It should be noted that Pilgrims Mexico’s presence, in figures, translates to 38 years, 12,600 direct jobs, 50,000 indirect jobs, and serving a market of over 30 million people.

Pilgrims’ Long-Term Commitment in San Luis Potosí and Mexico

For his part, Fabio Sandri, Global CEO of Pilgrims, emphasized that the company has doubled its production volume in Mexico over the last decade, consolidating the country as a key hub for its global protein operations.

«This growth has a clear purpose: to nourish families. Because for us, growth is not just about producing more, but doing so responsibly, with quality and a long-term vision. Today, Madam President, we are here to reaffirm our commitment to Mexico,» he stated.

Thus, with this new investment, the company will be fully integrated into the Plan Mexico and Food Sustainability Plan programs, which will ensure poultry production in San Luis Potosí as well as in other states where it operates.
