The Potosino agricultural sector is increasingly consolidating its position as one of the main pillars of San Luis Potosí’s economy. In this regard, according to figures from the Secretariat of Agricultural Development and Hydraulic Resources (Sedarh), San Luis Potosí achieved historic food production in 2025, reflecting significant growth in both agricultural and livestock products. This increase in production has also had a positive impact on employment, generating thousands of formal jobs, which further strengthens the state’s productive dynamics and its role in the national economy.
Potosino Agricultural Sector Achieves Historic Agricultural and Livestock Production Figures

agricultural and livestock production in 2025, significantly strengthening the state’s productive dynamics. According to the Sedarh report, 6.1 million tons of crops were harvested from 650,551 hectares. Among the most important crops are:
- Corn
- Beans
- Vegetables
- Sugarcane In addition to crops, livestock production totaled:
- 256 thousand tons of beef
- 127 thousand tons of eggs
- 172 thousand liters of milk As well as products such as honey, wax, and wool. These figures strengthen the region’s agro-livestock sector and support the productive diversification of the Potosino agricultural landscape.
Primary Activities Generate Over 20 Thousand Formal Jobs in SLP
These results not only represent growth in terms of production but also in job creation. The Potosino agro-livestock sector has generated 20,780 formal jobs, registered with the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute), benefiting nearly one million people who directly depend on this activity across the state’s four regions.
