And although they have been increasing from year to year, the Bank of Mexico reported that they decreased 12.1% in April and 4.6% in May, which represents the largest drop in 12 years. This decrease is attributed to more restrictive immigration policies in the United States and the proposal of a tax on remittances, although the latter was reduced to 1%.
