Scholarships at Tec de Monterrey San Luis Potosí Up to 85%: SEGE Signs Agreement

Starting this year, scholarships at Tec de Monterrey San Luis Potosí will become a new alternative for young people in the state, following the signing of an agreement between the university and the State Government’s Ministry of Education (SEGE). The agreement provides access to academic scholarships ranging from 10% to 85%, with the possibility of reaching up to 100% in leadership programs. The agreement was formalized by the campus’s General Director, Marco Edgar Vargas Herrada, and the head of SEGE, Juan Carlos Torres Cedillo, as part of a strategy to expand access to high-quality higher education.

During the presentation of the agreement, Marco Edgar Vargas Herrada stated that the convention represents a significant step to boost the state’s academic talent. “The ethos of our institution is to foster talent. This agreement is a milestone because it had not been achieved before with this scope. Our goal is that no young person with ability and aspirations is excluded due to economic reasons,” he expressed. The collaboration model establishes shared responsibility between both institutions:
- The State Government facilitates linkage processes and institutional support.
- Tecnológico de Monterrey provides the academic scholarships. The expectation is that up to 150 students can join the institution in the upcoming academic cycles.
Scholarships of 85% and Programs Reaching 100% at Tec de Monterrey San Luis Potosí
Furthermore, the head of SEGE, Juan Carlos Torres Cedillo, explained that the agreement includes different levels of financial support for students. The support percentages include:
- Scholarships from 10% to 80% for university studies
- Scholarships of up to 85% in some academic programs
- Scholarships of up to 100% in leadership programs According to the official, this agreement is the result of nearly four years of collaborative work between the state government and Tec de Monterrey. “This is the first time an agreement of this nature has been successfully implemented with Tecnológico de Monterrey, making it a historic event for San Luis Potosí,” he affirmed. The objective is for outstanding students from public high schools to access an institution with national and international academic recognition.
More Students, Greater Educational Offerings at Tec
The Tec de Monterrey San Luis Potosí scholarships are also part of an educational strategy linked to the state’s economic growth. Educational authorities indicated that access to specialized training is key to meeting the demand for talent generated by expanding industrial sectors. In this context, the Potosí campus also announced the expansion of its academic offerings with three new programs:
- Computer Technologies Engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Digital Production
- Architecture These programs respond to the demand for specialized profiles in technological, creative, and design areas linked to industrial and urban development.
A Scholarship Program Aiming for Continuity
The Tec de Monterrey San Luis Potosí scholarship program will commence with the incoming August cohort and will subsequently be evaluated to determine its continuity in the coming years. Both Tec de Monterrey and SEGE agreed that this agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of collaboration between the educational sector and the state government, with the aim of expanding opportunities for young people with high academic potential. The project seeks to consolidate a cooperation model that strengthens the development of local talent and broadens educational options for students from San Luis Potosí.
