Walmart USA Catalog Now Accessible to Mexican Shoppers
Walmart expands its e-commerce reach by opening its U.S. platform, Walmart.com, to international customers, starting with Mexico.
Walmart opened access to its U.S. platform, Walmart.com, to international customers on June 11, 2026, with Mexico being the first country to benefit from this expansion. This move is significant considering the company’s scale: approximately 280 million customers visit its over 10,900 stores and e-commerce sites in 19 countries weekly. Mexico being the first market incorporated into the international service highlights the commercial importance of the relationship between the two countries for the company. The initiative makes hundreds of thousands of items in categories such as apparel, home goods, and electronics available to Mexican consumers that were previously inaccessible through the company. Manish Joneja, Senior Vice President of Walmart Marketplace, summarized the initiative’s purpose: “This is a milestone in the evolution of how people access the assortment on Walmart.com’s marketplace globally, and we are excited to bring it to Mexico first.”
How to Shop in Three Steps
The purchasing process is designed to be straightforward. According to Walmart.com’s official help page, the steps are as follows:
- Select “Ship to Another Country” from the shipping dropdown menu, located in the upper left corner of the site.
- Choose Mexico as the destination country.
- Browse and add eligible items for international shipping to your cart. The site already features a Spanish version, which reduces the barrier to entry for Mexican shoppers.
Cost Transparency: What You’ll See Before Paying
One of the primary concerns for shoppers outside the U.S. is customs duties. Walmart displays estimated duties, taxes, and fees directly at checkout, so shoppers know the total cost of their order before confirming it, avoiding unexpected charges upon package receipt. As part of the launch offer, the company introduced a promotion for free shipping on eligible orders of $35 or more. Taxes and duties still apply under the same terms, and additional terms and conditions are available on Walmart.com.
Logistics: Who Handles Shipping and Customs
Orders travel through the same network that serves customers in the United States. Shipping and customs clearance are handled by established international carriers, and both Walmart and its service partners can manage the import process on behalf of the buyer, including communication with authorities and payment of applicable duties. Package tracking is available from dispatch to delivery.
What You Need to Know Before You Buy
One point that needs clarification before starting: Walmart.com is not the same as walmart.com.mx. They are completely separate platforms, and this new international shipping service operates from the U.S. site, not from the chain’s Mexican portal. Regarding returns, international orders are not accepted at physical stores; the process is handled online. Likewise, certain benefits such as Walmart+ membership, InHome Delivery service, and some payment options are not available for international purchases. Products are for personal use exclusively, not for resale. Manufacturer warranties may not apply in Mexico, and product documentation may not be in Spanish. For any inquiries, Walmart customer service is available 24/7 through walmart.com/help. The company also indicated plans to extend international shipping to more markets in the future.
