What Events Will Shape Tourism in Guanajuato in 2026?

Guanajuato outlines its ambitious 2026 tourism agenda, focusing on major events, international participation, and a new brand strategy to boost its global presence.

The State Government of Guanajuato has anticipated an intense and strategic tourism agenda for 2026, aimed at strengthening the entity’s national and international projection, as part of the “Government of the People” initiative, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo. The strategy includes a combination of high-impact events, participation in international fairs, and the promotion of a new

, which will be unveiled soon.

The León State Fair to Kick Off Guanajuato’s Tourism Calendar

According to the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, 2026 will commence with one of the country’s most significant events: the León State Fair. “We will start 2026 first with the León Fair, as you all know, one of the main fairs, Mexico’s most important family-oriented fair,” stated the official. The fair maintains high expectations for growth in visitors and hotel occupancy, which will strengthen the local economy from the beginning of the year.

Guanajuato’s Historic Participation in FITUR Madrid

One of the central pillars of the 2026 tourism agenda will be Guanajuato’s participation in FITUR, the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid, where Mexico will be the guest country. “Guanajuato will have a very strong, unprecedented presence, with a strengthened space. 12 municipalities will accompany us, each with cultural presence and tourism proposals,” explained Robles León. This participation seeks to position the state with a diversified tourism offering, supported by the direct presence of municipalities and cultural expressions.

International Agenda: Colombia and Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco

International projection will continue with Guanajuato’s participation in Colombia, during Latin America’s most important tourism fair, followed by the Tianguis Turístico to be held in Acapulco. “It’s a very robust agenda. We’ll arrive from FITUR and within 15 days, we’ll be in Colombia… then comes the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco,” indicated the Secretary.

Promoting the New Tourism Brand in Guanajuato

As part of the 2026 strategy, the State Government announced that a new tourism brand will be unveiled and promoted, which will be officially presented by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo soon. This initiative aims to consolidate Guanajuato’s tourism identity and strengthen its positioning in national and international markets.
