Aeroméxico to Launch 3 New Routes from Mexico City to the United States: When and Where?

Aeroméxico and Delta Air Lines are expanding air connectivity with three new direct routes from Mexico City International Airport to U.S. destinations.

Aeroméxico and Delta Air Lines are expanding air connectivity between Mexico and the United States with the addition of three new direct routes from Mexico City International Airport (AICM). This announcement signifies an expansion of travel options for business travelers, tourists, and companies engaged in commercial relations between the two countries. Furthermore, the launch of these routes follows the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) removal of restrictions that previously prevented Mexican airlines from opening new routes or increasing frequencies from AICM and Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

According to information released by both companies, Aeroméxico will operate these three services daily, utilizing Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Tickets are now available through the airlines’ official sales channels.

What Are the New Aeroméxico Routes and When Do Flights Begin?

The new will link Mexico City with three U.S. destinations offering opportunities for both tourism and corporate travel. While each city has a distinct profile, these routes will expand direct travel alternatives from the Mexican capital.

The announced start dates for each service are as follows:

  • Mexico City–Orange County, California: Will commence on January 11, 2027, with seven weekly flights. The service will connect AICM with John Wayne Airport (SNA), located in Orange County, Southern California.
  • Mexico City–Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Will begin on January 14, 2027, also with seven weekly frequencies. Flights will arrive at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
  • Mexico City–Portland, Oregon: Will start on January 21, 2027, with seven flights per week. The route will serve Portland International Airport (PDX) in the northwestern United States.

With these additions, Aeroméxico will be the sole airline offering direct flights between Mexico City and each of these three destinations, according to company statements. Furthermore, the new routes will expand the Aeroméxico-Delta alliance network to 27 U.S. destinations from the Mexican capital, as announced.

How Will the Flights Operate and What Changes Following the Removal of U.S. Restrictions?

The three routes will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which Aeroméxico will use to offer daily service. These aircraft have a capacity of 166 passengers, distributed across three cabins.

The announced configuration includes:

  • 16 seats in Clase Premier: Targeted at passengers seeking an executive travel experience.
  • 18 seats in AM Plus: An option with distinct features compared to the economy cabin.
  • 132 seats in Cabina Turista: For all other passengers.

The aircraft are also equipped with an in-flight entertainment system. The capacity per flight will allow the airline to integrate these new connections into its cross-border operations.

Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeroméxico, stated that the addition of these destinations will bring passengers closer to new tourist alternatives while simultaneously fostering business and commercial exchange opportunities. This expansion is part of the Joint Cooperation Agreement between Aeroméxico and Delta, through which both companies coordinate efforts to strengthen their connectivity between Mexico and the United States.
