Aguascalientes Ranks Second in Industrial Growth for September 2025: INEGI
INEGI reports Aguascalientes' industrial sector achieved the second-highest annual growth in Mexico for September 2025, driven by manufacturing.
On January 16, 2026, the
(INEGI) published the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF). The document presents information corresponding to September 2025. The IMAIEF allows for monthly monitoring of industrial activity performance in each state nationwide. The indicator provides comparable data across entities and over time. Results are expressed as physical volume indices, with a 2018 base year. The calculation integrates mining, energy, construction, and manufacturing industries.
Top-Growing Entities in September
Considering seasonally adjusted figures, in September 2025, Aguascalientes registered a monthly variation of -0.1%. In the same monthly measurement, Jalisco recorded a month-over-month growth of 2.1%. San Luis Potosí achieved a monthly variation of 1.7%. Querétaro showed a monthly variation of 0.0%.
The largest increases in September 2025 were recorded in Nayarit, with 5.0%. It was followed by Tabasco, with a monthly increase of 4.3%. Guanajuato ranked third, with a month-over-month growth of 3.6%. Nuevo León, with 2.6%, and Jalisco, with 2.1%, also stood out.
In terms of annual variation, five entities accounted for the highest growth rates:
- Tamaulipas led the ranking, with an annual increase of 12.2%.
- Aguascalientes ranked second, with 5.5%.
- San Luis Potosí recorded an annual growth of 5.0%.
- Baja California Sur showed a positive annual variation of 4.1%. Jalisco closed the group, with an annual increase of 2.2%.
In comparison with the other states in the Central-Bajío-West region, Aguascalientes recorded a growth of 5.5%. This result outperformed Jalisco, which grew by 2.2%. Aguascalientes also ranked above Guanajuato, which had an annual variation of -1.2%. Its annual growth was similar to that of San Luis Potosí, which reached 5.0%. In contrast, Querétaro experienced an annual decline of -5.2%. With these data, Aguascalientes positioned itself among the states with the highest annual growth in the region.
Annual Variation and Sectoral Contribution
The IMAIEF also presents the real annual percentage variation and the contribution of each state to the national total. This section uses original figures, without seasonal adjustment. The analysis is conducted solely at an annual rate.
In September 2025, Aguascalientes’ total industrial activity grew by 7.8%. This growth contributed 0.13 points to the national indicator. In the region, San Luis Potosí registered an annual growth of 6.2% and a contribution of 0.22 points. Jalisco showed an annual increase of 3.6% and a contribution of 0.24 points. Guanajuato recorded an annual variation of 0.1%. Querétaro experienced an annual decline of -3.9%.
Based on the annual variation of total industrial activity, the IMAIEF highlights the states with the highest annual growth in September 2025, among which Tamaulipas, Aguascalientes, and San Luis Potosí occupy the top three positions:
- In first place, Tamaulipas recorded an annual growth of 12.7% and a contribution of 0.47 points to the national total.
- In second place, Aguascalientes showed an annual increase of 7.8%, with a contribution of 0.13 points.
- In third place, San Luis Potosí achieved an annual growth of 6.2% and contributed 0.22 points.
- In fourth place, Baja California Sur reported a positive annual variation of 4.6%, with a contribution of 0.02 points.
- In fifth place, Jalisco recorded an annual growth of 3.6% and a contribution of 0.24 points.
How Did Aguascalientes’ Industry Perform by Sector?
In Aguascalientes, mining grew by 4.0%, while electricity generation and transmission advanced by 0.2% annually. Construction registered an annual decrease of -5.7%. Manufacturing industries grew by 9.9% and contributed 0.21 points, the state’s largest positive contribution.
Among the top-growing regions, Tamaulipas showed a 234.0% increase in mining, with a contribution of 2.88 points. In San Luis Potosí, manufacturing industries grew by 6.2%, with a contribution of 0.27 points. Jalisco’s construction sector advanced by 12.5% and contributed 0.78 points to the national indicator. In Baja California Sur, construction grew by 8.0%, while manufacturing advanced by 4.7%.
The September 2025 IMAIEF allows for the observation of each entity’s industrial performance based on two complementary metrics. In this context, Aguascalientes excelled in both annual variation with seasonally adjusted figures and annual variation with original figures. The state positioned itself among the top growth performers nationwide and within the Central-Bajío-West corridor.
Sectoral information showed a significant contribution from manufacturing industries, along with differentiated variations in mining, energy, and construction. Collectively, the indicator offers a clear reference for positioning Aguascalientes’ recent industrial performance against the rest of the country.
