Innovation in the Automotive Industry in Querétaro
UAQ students develop a robotic manufacturing cell for the automotive industry, reinforcing Querétaro's strategic position in the sector.
Students from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) developed the project “Robotic Manufacturing Cell Using Electric Resistance Welding.” This prototype can be utilized in the automotive industry and for applied education. Furthermore, it integrates programming, image analysis, and automated welding. This allows for a comprehensive understanding of the design and operation of an industrial manufacturing cell. The students are part of UAQ’s Electromechanical Engineering program. This development was carried out with funding from the Rector’s Special Projects Fund (FOPER). “With two years of work in programming and analysis, and six months to consolidate the physical cell, this initiative strengthens the practical and specialized training of students, preparing them for the challenges of a strategic sector in Querétaro,” the UAQ reported. Automotive Industry, Strategic Hub in Querétaro
The
is one of the key sectors for the state’s economic development. According to data from the SEDESU 2025 Economic Yearbook, Querétaro hosts over 350 companies in this sector, generating more than 80,000 direct jobs. This positions the state in fifth place nationally for production. Of the more than 300 companies established in Querétaro, 123 are integrated into the Automotive Cluster, which aims to create a sustainable environment and foster the development of local supply chains.
