  1. Imposition of 25% tariffs on U.S. products: Trudeau announced that tariffs worth 30 billion Canadian dollars will be applied to goods from the United States.
  2. Filing lawsuits before the WTO and the USMCA: Canada will take the case to international organizations to challenge Trump’s measure.
  3. Strengthening agreements with other trade partners: To mitigate the impact of tariffs, the Canadian government will seek to strengthen trade relations with other countries.
  4. Support for affected industries: Resources will be allocated to support the productive sectors most affected by the tariffs imposed by the United States.

For its part, the government of Mexico also reacted strongly to Trump’s tariffs. Specifically, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that her administration will implement trade reprisals and that the details of these will be revealed on March 9 in the Zócalo of Mexico City.

In addition, during the morning conference this Tuesday, Sheinbaum read an official statement in which she expressed her rejection of the tariffs imposed by the United States, emphasizing that the measure harms both peoples.

“We are emphatic, there is no reason or justification to support this decision that affected our peoples. We have said it: cooperation and coordination yes, interventionism no. Mexico must be respected, we are equal nations,” declared the president.
