U.S. Ambassador Highlights “Real Results” from Cooperation with Mexico

The United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, stated that cooperation between the two countries has generated “real results” in security, combating fentanyl, and migration.

In a statement published on his X account, the diplomat highlighted that detentions at the U.S. southern border are at their lowest level in 55 years.

“Our cooperation is generating real results for the security, prosperity, and well-being of both nations,” Johnson noted. He also affirmed that daily apprehensions are 95% below the levels recorded during the Joe Biden administration.

Regarding drug trafficking, Johnson indicated that overdose deaths in the United States decreased by 35% by the end of 2025. He added that drug seizures at the U.S. border dropped by 50%, while in Mexico, seizures and operations against clandestine laboratories increased. According to the U.S. Embassy, Mexican authorities have secured over 65 tons of drugs and dismantled more than 2,300 laboratories.

“By curbing illegal migration and combating human trafficking, we are saving lives,” the ambassador stated. Johnson also highlighted actions against organized crime members, including priority targets like “El Mencho” and “El Jardinero.”

Furthermore, he reported that Mexico carried out 96 extraditions and 92 transfers under custody to the United States. The report also noted the seizure of over 36,000 illegal weapons and the interception of 4,359 weapons before they reached criminal groups. The U.S. Embassy indicated that the
